depracticated-wordnetloom's Issues

Issues when adding synset relations

Two main issues are found when creating new relations:

  1. After creating new synset relation, the visualisation tab does not update to reflect the new relation added. It would be an useful improvement if the active tab and other open tabs that contain the target/source synset of the newly added relation reflect the change. Selecting 'Open in new Tab' (right-click menu) on a synset does not produce the graph representation reflecting the change. Only closing and reloading the affected synset(s) in a new tab will update the graph representation.

  2. After creating a new synset relation the selection mode (hand cursor) remains active instead of returning to the normal mode (pointer cursor). In this selection mode for creating new synset relation, the hand cursor will change to a pointer cursor when clicking on the background or on any element that is not a synset, but the selection mode remains active and the hand cursor will be enabled again when switching tabs. The only method to return to the normal mode is selecting a synset and to press 'Cancel' on the dialog window. The mode should return to normal after valid synset creation.

If some further clarification is needed some screencasts can be created to demonstrate the current issues.

some previously reported issues

A copy of some previously reported issues:

I had told you about the issue we have with the word GAP!.
Unfortunately I cannot select a small part of the database containing all the "GAP!" entries.
I made some queries.
There are 15 entries in the word table with word field = "GAP!"
The first one appears 1723 times in sense table and the rest just once.

I took note of what our linguist did:
Creating a new synset (the + sign on the bottom left of the page).
In the opened window, the word is "GAP!" with no changes to the other parameters (no definition, no comment, no example)

There is a long wait after clicking on the "save" button and then a message pops up saying "unit or units of given lemma and domain already exists. Units of same lemma and domain must have different comment."

This problem just happens with "GAP!". We tried another already existing word and everything went on as expected.

We were working with the new item, dictionary. Some issues are:
1- We wanted to try "delete". But it doesn't work!
2- Same entries are allowed.
3- And after entering the same value and not being able to delete it, WordnetLoom stopped working at some related sections such as adding a synset (bottom left or on the right side of the application)

We could make queries though. (Please find the attached log file)

The message that pops up after merge is in Polish, can you please add the translation?

Thanks

relations

In the edit relations type, I can't add synset or sense relations.

In MacOS , branch Princeton. testing the editor.

Relation Types settings - reordering and POS

In the Edit relation types setting window, using the up/down arrows to move the relation types does not save the new position for the relation type.

Any existing part-of-speech value(s) for a relation type setting should be displayed as selected (checkbox) in the dialog window. I would recommend using a default value of 'none' if blank or undefined. It may not make sense to select 'none' with other valid part-of-speech values.

Can you provide the Mysql commands for steps 1.2 and 1.3. In particular, I am using docker, https://hub.docker.com/_/mysql/, a very common way to isolate tools nowadays.

For Wildfly, I suppose we could also use the docker distribution https://hub.docker.com/r/jboss/wildfly/. How to make it happen? Not clear without instructions on how to execute step 2.3.

Finally, even without the server up and running, I tried step 3.1. I executed

$ pwd
/Users/ar/work/WordnetLoom/wordnetloom-client/target
$ java -jar wordnetloom-client-2.0.jar
no main manifest attribute, in wordnetloom-client-2.0.jar

So I could not start the client.

Help?! Can you share some screenshots of the main windows of the tool? I would like to have some preliminary ideas about the main features.
