Does chrome.extension.onConnect
work? I'm not doing extension development anymore but looking at the docs I don't see the onConnect
attribute https://developer.chrome.com/extensions/extension
I believe you're supposed to use runtime for this now.

@clarkbw Thank you quick response. Actually I am using runtime now. Still I am not sure How to test my function. Can you provide some details please?
from jest-webextension-mock.
I'd probably do something like this:
describe('your function to test', () => {
it('should have called a webextension API', () => {
expect(chrome.extension.onConnect.addListener).toHaveBeenCalled();
expect(chrome.tabs. query).toHaveBeenCalledWith({ active: true });
});
If you wanted to test the port.onMessage.addListener
pieces I think you'd have to submit a PR that allows for that kind of testing as well. Currently we don't return a port object you can work with.

Thank you @clarkbw . It makes sense now.
Suppose If I want to test
port.onMessage.addListener(function (message) {
switch (message.type) {
case 'reloadWithDebug':
case 'reloadWithDebug':
// This is called even for iframe is loaded
chrome.tabs.query({
active: true,
lastFocusedWindow: true
}, function(tabs){
let currentUrl = tabs[0].url;
chrome.tabs.update({url:currentUrl});
}
}
Is there a way to pass a message manually to the listener and check if chrome.tabs.update is called? What is the best way to approach this?
