odoh-client-go

odoh-client is a command line interface as a client for making Oblivious DNS-over-HTTPS queries. The implementation is based on chris-wood/odoh-client.

It currently supports the following functionalities:

• DoH Query: odoh-client doh --domain www.cloudflare.com. --dnstype AAAA --target <target> where <target> is the name of the target resolver, e.g., odoh.cloudflare-dns.com.
• ODoH Query: odoh-client odoh --domain www.cloudflare.com. --dnstype AAAA --target <target>
• ODoH Query via Proxy: odoh-client odoh --domain www.cloudflare.com. --dnstype AAAA --target <target> --proxy <proxy> where <proxy> is the name of a proxy server.

Usage

To build the executable, do:

go build -o odoh-client ./cmd/...

DoH query to target

./odoh-client doh --domain www.cloudflare.com. --target odoh.cloudflare-dns.com --dnstype AAAA

ODoH query to target

./odoh-client odoh --domain www.cloudflare.com. --dnstype AAAA --target odoh.cloudflare-dns.com

ODoH query to target via a proxy

./odoh-client odoh --domain www.cloudflare.com. --dnstype AAAA --target odoh.cloudflare-dns.com --proxy odoh1.surfdomeinen.nl

Fetch ODoH configuration

./odoh-client odohconfig-fetch --target odoh.cloudflare-dns.com --pretty

Note

This tool includes a sub command for benchmarking various protocols and has been used for performing measurements presented in this arxiv paper. There are also traces of telemetry which are used for the same purpose in an effort to reproduce the results of the paper.

odoh-client-go's Issues

VERSION file is missing in repository

VERSION file is missing in repository as result Makefile is missing VERSION variable and build arguments are empty.

target provided no odoh configs

Why do I get this error: target provided no odoh configs

This is what I tried.

./odoh-client odohconfig-fetch --target odoh.cloudflare-dns.com --pretty

./odoh-client odoh --domain www.cloudflare.com. --dnstype AAAA --target odoh.cloudflare-dns.com --proxy odoh1.surfdomeinen.nl

It does not work. I get this error: target provided no odoh configs

bench command not working

Looks bench command is defunct:

• missing file with list of 10 hostnames (dataset.csv) defined here

  odoh-client-go/commands/commands.go

  Line 93 in 0c01202

  Value: "dataset.csv",

• benchmark tries to send results in telemetry.go to Google Cloud here

  odoh-client-go/commands/telemetry.go

  Line 44 in 0c01202

  telemetryInstance.logClient, err = logging.NewClient(ctx, projectID)

Please make bench command working locally with optional usage of Elasticsearch or Google Cloud for submitting results.

Errors during "go build -o odoh-client ./cmd/..."

I am seeing below errors on my ubuntu machine

cant build client/go cant import X448

Hi, :-)

while trying to build the odoh-client I got this error as the server sends a certificate for sekigahara.schwanenlied.me instead of git.schwanenlied.me:

It turns out, the developer "yawning angel" does not self-host X448 anymore. In a recent e-mail he responded:

"I gave up on self-hosting git repositories a while ago, and the git CNAME shouldn't even exist anymore.
The correct fix here is to get the package to update their import path (the canonical location for what
they are using is "gitlab.com/yawning/x448.git")."

Could you follow his hint and update the import path for X448? And by the way, the build of the odoh-server breaks for the same reason.

make TARGET_HTTP_MODE and PROXY_HTTP_MODE configurable from command line

When I tried running this locally with odoh-server, it failed because it sends requests with https and my odoh-server was running with plain http. It'd be nice to be able to set the scheme (http/https) for the target and proxy without having to change commands/common.go and rebuild.
