how to open and run package in android studio?

I'm hoping to add on some additional functionality to the native android side of this package but am unclear how to import it and run in android studio? Is it possible to run the android piece standalone without react-native?... and if so any guidance?

I tried opening the android folder in android-studio and it gave me build issues related to compile 'com.facebook.react:react-native:+'. I can work around that by adding react-native as a package.json dependency at the root of the project directory and doing an npm install but even when it succussfully builds it does not appear to be an android-studio project that I can run in emulation

Cannot use the package on iOS/Android

I just installed this package and I cannot use it at all with this error message:
"Super expression must either be null or a function, not undefined." for both iOS and Android.

当使用showDateTimePicker方法时，部分安卓手机无法选择月份。

【bug】showDatePicker的date错误

this.setState({
date: new Date()
})
这里应该是传入的date值。
还有想请教下，怎么总是警告提示date必须为Date类型以及onDateChange不可为空的错误，是不是跟我升级到React Native 0.22.2有关？

Android 5.0.x Timepicker callback problem

TimePicker's OnTimeChangedListener do not fire on Android 5.0.x.
Validation of time must be done in onClick method to make it work.
