Code review request!

@bootcoder @kenrett @amgando:

Know you guys are super jammed but would love to do an in-person code review with one of you on my passion project (this repo), focusing specifically on:

• placement of logic (model vs view vs controller vs helper). for instance, i'm finding myself writing logic in views that might be better placed elsewhere? what should i be doing in models and helpers?
• active-record associations: how to best connect resources across multiple tables. for instance, i have users that connect to politicians/ candidates through 2-3 other tables. I'd like to reference that association directly...how can i best chain it? or should I?
• work through a few value-added model and database validations. I've added a few basic ones, but want to get more in the habit of adding the right types of protection.
