If you do not want to have a left column, just disable it in the page layout.

Hi!

Are you sure that this isn't a bug? I'm adopting a two column layout (main, right) to TL. In the right column I placed the subnavigation. If there's no item in the subnavigation just   is in the output of the page.

TYPOlight adds   to empty columns, so the CSS does not break in IE5/6.

Do we still need the nbsp now that IE6 support is dropped?

leofeyer avatar leofeyer commented on July 17, 2024

Is this a fix for IE6 only? AFAIK, IE7 has this issue as well.

Ruudt avatar Ruudt commented on July 17, 2024

I found a problem with IE6, but can't find an issue on IE7, it displays the exact same a current FF does for all things I tried:

I've made a layout with all three columns; main has text, left and right are empty, all columns have their own background color. I tried with and without static layout. When nbsp is displayed left and right are one line in height. When I include the left and right columns, but without nbsp they disappear, but that is correct as they have 0 height. When I take out the column html the columns aren't displayed.

So I'm not sure what bug this is, but I can't find any in IE7. If not tested by the above, can you refer me to that IE5/6/7 issue? I will test that as well to make sure.

Hm, I am willing to change it, however we have to be 100% sure! Can anyone else confirm?

Just to be sure; can you refer me to a description of the bug you wanted to solve with this? I'll try it out and can post some screenshots and a link.
