ascii-quest's Issues

[Feature] Ending list

Every text-based adventure and visual novel needs a screen listing all reached endings and pointing out if you're still missing some!

[Feature] Save states

Even if the game is pretty short, being able to save and reload progress at certain points may be useful, even if it may be considered a cheat. Perhaps only after achieving the Good Ending?

[Feature] "Already read" action marker

Many adventure games change the color of choices that can be repeated and you've already read.
It would be nice to have the same in ASCII Quest!

Extremely minor, out of context spoilers for The Witcher 3

The Witcher 3 uses three colors for dialogue choices:

  • yellow, for choices which permanently advance the conversation
  • brown, for choices that do not advance the conversation and usually tell you more about the story
  • grey, for repeatable choices you've already taken

An example dialogue with six choices, two yellow, three brown, and one grey.

[Feature] Restart button

In certain cases, such as when you're sure you've taken a certain action, a Restart or Go back to the menu button could be useful, so you do not have to close and re-open the game to achieve the same.

[Bug] Sometimes, the "go back" actions do nothing

It seems to occour in certain cases, when there's no place to go back to, such as when getting kicked out of the tavern.

again, this totally isn't me messing around with the game settings like in #5

[Feature] Different colors for different areas

It would be nice if changing area would also change the background (and possibly foreground?) color of the "terminal".

It can be achieved by applying a custom theme to the root element of the scene in question.

[Polishing] Make the ASCII drawings more "apparent"

For some reason, at a certain point, I started focusing on the text and forgot to check out the small ASCII drawings on the right side of the screen.

I think it may have been because there is little contrast between the frame and the image itself; perhaps making the low-importance parts of the UI of a different color might help with that?

Draft

A badly made draft of a more apparent ASCII art

[Bug] Time may go beyond 18:00

Certain actions may cause the game timer to go beyond 18:00 / 19:00.

I'm certain [Hunt]ing in the forest is one of them.
