couchbase-spark-samples's Introduction

Couchbase Spark Samples

This repository contains small snippets that showcase the usage of the Couchbase Spark Connector with Apache Spark.

Please see the Documentation for quickstart and full documentation. Also make sure to have at least the travel-sample and the default bucket loaded. Some examples also need more setup like the twitter stream, JDBC and Hadoop examples.

All examples can be run from the IDE by calling the main methods and you can also run them from the command line, for example : sbt "run-main DatasetExample"

What is the reason and how to avoid the warning.

spark couchbase concurrency always 1

I have tried these examples with --master yarn but I got the concurrency as always 1.
There is only one partition starting from the reading.
take spark sql for an example.

val df = spark.read.couchbase()

here df is a one partition dataframe with testing data (snappy parquet size 300M).

Is there any configuration in database side (such as adding an index, adding a partition) that can make the process multi concurrency?

no use sparkconfig link to couchbase?

val sparkConf = new SparkConf()
  .set("com.couchbase.nodes", "a;b;c;d")
  .set("spark.couchbase.nodes", "d;e;f")

no use this way .

After creating sparkcontext , how to add attribute information。

Add realistic examples

Most samples show data being printed to screen. This is rarely, if ever, done in reality. A far more useful approach would be to read from one bucket and write to another, thus showing both read and write approaches.
