@VilleKrumlinde Ok, your finding seems to be correct. Though I wasn't able to reproduce the issue on linux, I made the fix by setting the variable initially to null .
Why your image is rendered incorrectly after that is another question. I will investigate that. By the way, it seems like my version of Firefox also renders it incorrectly. So, can I ask you also to send me the screenshot of a correctly rendered SVG, so I would know what to expect?

All is fixed in svgren version 0.4.49 and svgdom version 0.3.17
