What is "simultaneous"? If I click L then R', I may not want them to animate at the same time. And if L R' animates simultaneously, why not L R? Point is, I think your second point is good but needs some thought and refinement, where the first one is pretty uncontroversial (at least from UI click moves).

I think that L R and L R' should definitely both animate simultaneously by default, if you click them at the same time or in quick succession. This is needed for several applications.

However, for some cases it might be useful to have a single sequential stream. I'll definitely have an option for that, and I think you could convince me to have some callers use this by default. :-P
