Compatability with Plasma 6

I am a long-time user of Public IP address, and appreciate your work on it!

If you ever update the widget to work with Plasma 6, you can be sure that at least one user will again add it gratefully to the panel. For now, however, I have to do without it. My distro just updated to Plasma 6, and the widget is reported as incompatible.

Feature request: IPv6 and filter

Hi & thanks for this tool !

The IP is only in v4, it's time to v6 ;)
A filter who change the color of the icon could be usefull for exemple:
I set ipv4/v6 or network filters if I it is not the right public ip the icon becomes red
Could be usefull to see if our VPN is down or we change a network.

Causes bluedevil to stop updating device status

This issue started a month ago and took me a long while to find the cause.
Bluedevil stopped updating bluetooth device status. ie: when I connect my headset it will keep being listed as not connected, it will only update the status when I restart plasma
I verified that other bluetooth apps(blueman and blueberry) worked fine. I Tried downgrading bluedevil without success.
I found out that in a new user without anything configured bluedevil would work normally, but as I kept configuring the system It would eventually return to the buggy behavior.
I was able identify that the specific point in which the bug would start happening is when adding this applet. right now if I add it the bug will start and will stop exactly when I remove it.
So I'm thinking, maybe they did an optimization somewhere in kde, for the system to not need to constantly probe for the bluetooth status, maybe they started listening to some event and somehow this widget block this event propagation or something like that.
At the moment I'm able to avoid the bug by not having this applet active, which is really bad because it is one of my must have applets
Anyway, wanted to know if there are more people having this problem and maybe we can find some workaround.

Causes plasmashell to crash.

v. 1.2.5 on Kubuntu 18.04

kernel: plasmashell[26977]: segfault at 8 ip 00007fc317a097fa sp 00007fff495a18d0 error 4 in libQt5Location.so.5.9.5[7fc317995000+1a5000]

The segfault is preceded by repeating errors for several NetworkManager actions -- see attached file.

Doesn't work with Wireguard

The subject line tells the story. I just configured a few WireGuard VPN connections. The widget understood the change to the first one, but refused to change the flag or the Public IP address as I switched to other Wireguard and, later, standard openVPN connections. I had to reboot to make things right.

On reboot, it does function normally ... at least with openVPN!

QML QQuickText: Anchors on an item that is managed by a layout

This has no effect on the widget's functionality (splendid job on that, BTW) but Lordy is my ~/.xsession-errors file bloated with the following:

I believe it's pretty simple to fix, but nobody should take my advice on writing QML... I always start off feeling like I understand how to accomplish what I want to do and usually end up conceding some measure of defeat a few hours later with something that technically works,...but with none of the elegance I envisioned at the start. My approach was to swap out anchors.horizontalCenter: parent.horizontalCenter here with Layout.alignment: Qt.AlignHCenter and as yet nothing seems to have caught fire. 🤷‍♂️

IP address in panel

I have a widescreen monitor and plenty of space I could use on the bottom panel. Would it be possible to add an option to show the current IP address in the panel itself?

Respond to network change

Me again :)

I was wondering if it is possible to have the widget detect and respond to network changes somehow? Or even just a way to send a message to it through the CLI to tell it to update immediately? I mostly use this to ensure that my WireGuard VPN connection is working properly, but I can only set the refresh interval to 1 minute at the shortest. Any suggestions?

can get notification when public IP change?

Widget shows wrong IP adress while using VPN

Hello, thanks for this cool widget!
As long as no VPN connection is established, everything including the VPN indicator works just fine.
But when I connect to a VPN, the widget keeps showing the old IP address.
And when I remove the widget and add a new one, it shows no information until I disconnect the VPN connection.
If you need logs, please tell me what you need and how i can get them.
