Not a bug.

Moonmist and other infocom titles require either ANSI.SYS or NANSI.SYS loaded in your CONFIG.SYS.
The Moonmist installer will try to add ANSI.SYS to your CONFIG.SYS, but if you're using FreeDOS, they renamed it to NANSI.SYS, so I guess that would fail.

If you're running from the hard drive, edit your CONFIG.SYS and change ANSI.SYS to NANSI.SYS (or add DEVICE=C:\DOS\NANSI.SYS if it is not there)

If you're running from floppies, I made a boot floppy for you:
ansi_boot.zip

It might be worth modifying the Freedos image i ship with MartyPC so this is loaded automatically.

For running older DOS games and software, using MS-DOS 3.30 is probably better than FreeDOS for compatibility issues.
