Hey, can you try installing without the editable (-e) flag and see if that helps? Also there should be module files (*.dylib) within the repository, are they present?

Actually re-reading your issue it sounds a bit like the editable install failed altogether - could you run it with the verbose flag? (pip install -e . -v)

Hi, thanks for your reply and suggestions. Removing -e results in a working installation on my Mac, but ultimately I will require the install to be editable. The *.dylib files are also present only when installing without the editable flag.

Furthermore, installing on my other (Linux) machine fails both with and without the -e flag, with the same ModuleNotFoundError error. I am attaching both the output of pip install . -v and pip install -e . -v from this machine.

Resolved, this has to do with scikit-build/scikit-build#740 and can be quickfixed (until the issue is resolved) by

export SETUPTOOLS_ENABLE_FEATURES="legacy-editable"
