libbpg's Issues

Problem in installation

Hello, professor!I followed the readme to install, but it meets error in the first step.I need comply it into video compression and I’m worried about it.

(CYJN) [user058@node05 libbpg-0.9.8]$ make
make -C x265.out/12bit
make[1]: Entering directory /home/user058/CYJ/Open/OpenDVC-master/libbpg-0.9.8/x265.out/12bit' make[1]: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop. make[1]: Leaving directory /home/user058/CYJ/Open/OpenDVC-master/libbpg-0.9.8/x265.out/12bit'
make: *** [x265_make] Error 2

My env is in a Linux server, and non-root directory makes the installation hard. Hoping you can give me some good solutions as more comprehensive as possible, because I’m a freshman in this aspect. Thank you for your attention and time.

Unable to convert JPG images - receive "Bus error: 10" in terminal

I installed bpgenc with Homebrew by typing the following into my terminal:
brew install libbpg

I then navigated to a directory containing some images I wanted to convert. I was able to successfully convert PNG images using:
bpgenc input-file.png -o test.bpg

However, the same did not work with any .jpg or .jpeg images:
bpgenc input-file.jpg -o aaa.bpg

This yielded Bus error: 10. I tried with different images, but only PNG images worked.

Can you tell me what I've done wrong?

Windows command line encoder

I run a business and create a master weather page, using 60 satellite /map/radar from various universities and government data sources.... Obviously, it is impractical to remotely pull all these in the field over 4g phones that default to 2g, most of the time.

I currently use ImageMagick 7, dos, and autohotkey, to pull, crop, animate, lower resolution, and compress to webp, upload to my weather server. Autohotkey has zero, nada, Linux equivalent, so after 30 years of using Linux and Unix, I still do not see Linux as a usable operating system for a real power user. (though I don't like the direction windows is going).

Obviously, my dilemma is that I want to use bpg, but believe that there is no dos bpg command line tool compiled for windows. I am still using 32 bit since I have invested thousands of hours writing programs I still use, which have no equivalent, in 32 bit code and even 16 bit, which ran noticeably faster on 1 and 2 core 32bit machines, at least up to 2007.

max resolution?

the bpgenc.exe crashes when I feed it a 15k x 10k jpg

Is that the nature of the hevc encoder or a bug?
