publicalerts's Issues

Module no longer works with Google Public Alerts

Related: #1

At some point recently, this module no longer provides a response from the endpoint it was scraping.

Request:

publicalerts = require("publicalerts")

publicalerts.search({location: 'washington dc'}, function(err, result) {
  if(err) console.log(err);
  console.log(JSON.stringify(result, null, 2));
});

Response:

"Request failed (404)"

@jlivni, who works on the team at Google that provides the service, has said there's a public API. This module would need to be refactored to call that instead.

Consider using the API instead of scraping?

Hi there,

I work on the Google Crisis Response team, which is responsible for the public alerts site this module makes use of.

If you're willing to share, I'm curious to hear more about your use case for public alerts, and whether you'd be interested in testing out our API (demo here).
