devrelcollective.github.io's Issues

Update Welcome message for website

As referenced in #33 we are redoing the website. As such, we need a few things put together, one of which is a better "welcome" than we currently have:

DevRel Collective exists to facilitate sharing information, resources, and encouragement among the Developer Relations community. If you share a passion for the Developer community, and you would like to get to know a great group of friendly peers, reach out about joining the collective.

It's been replaced by a fortinet wildcard-certificate.

Add DevRel resources for ppl who are DevRel-curious

We often get applications from people who say that they're interested in learning more about DevRel. While we love these questions and definitely want to do a better job of explaining DevRel to the masses, this Slack isn't the best place for that. It's far more likely that someone will get overwhelmed by the amount of information and the lack of guidance around "how to do DevRel."

Creating a sub-section or child page of the website allows us to provide materials to those are curious about what Developer Relations is and the value that it provides.

I'm in the process of trying to hook into the Pocket API to automatically pull any articles that I tag as "whatis" to be a resource for people, but we can easily build out the page first with a handful of community favorites. I'd also like the below information displayed either on the main website or somewhere on this child page.

Why is this an exclusive group?

We feel it’s important for those of us who are pursuing this career to have a private and safe place to talk about our struggles, offer suggestions and congratulations, seek advice, and create professional relationships with others in the industry. As a result, we are limiting access to this group to those who are either actively entrenched in this career or actively pursuing a career shift into Developer Relations.

If you are actively involved in developer communities or event management, we welcome your input on our public Github repos and appreciate your support! Please let us know if there is anything we can do to support you.

If you are curious about Developer Relations, whether as a potential career path or as a company, please take a look at the resources listed and don’t hesitate to if you have any questions.

Clean up old branches

We have a lot of old branches which need cleaned up. Need to keep the old-site branch for posterity

Request: Submit your favorite DevRel resources

Our website now has a "DevRel Resources" section, but it's a bit light on the resources.. So we're asking those in the community to help us populate it! Please submit to this Issue your favorite DevRel resource (book, website, etc.) and we'll start adding them... OR... submit a PR with your suggestions!

Add meta tag description to new template

Need to add a new stub to the site template for the <meta name="description" content=""> tag... Needs to contain the following as the content (from the old site):

description: "DevRel Collective πŸ₯‘- and So Can You! exists to facilitate sharing information, resources, and encouragement among the Developer Relations community."

Redo website

It's high time we have a new website, and work has begun on this. More info to come.

How do we share more DevRel articles on the site?

Discussing architecture. Potentially as someone submits ideas, like in #3 and #4, we curate metadata tags. Architectural discussion led us to think about:

  • Our Guide to DevRel - curated list of books, videos, links.
  • Tagged Resources - curate collection of links in very short articles from someone in the community. Best to show by example here.

Questions: who's on point for these, and what are their urls.

Better background color

We'd love for the website to swap out the greenish blue background for something prettier. Any designer friends in our community want to improve the site?
