spaceid's Issues

Feature Request: Shows only current and non-empty space

To create shortcut for moving to specific space in Mac, requires a pre-opened space.
I'd like to only show current and non-empty space.
This can be very useful when using tiling window manger such as yabai and amelyst.

App won't launch

I couldn't launch latest release app.

I had to change the permissions of the 'SpaceId.app/Contents/MacOS/SpaceId' to be executable.

Indicator disappeared, how to get it back?

When trying spaceid out I clicked on the indicator and selected the different options to see what happened. When I clicked "Spaces" or something, the indicator disappeared and I can't get it back. Since I can't get it back I don't have an option of configuring it... any suggestion on what I should do to get the indicator back? Also, there should be an simple option to access the settings without running it if possible.

Bash or AppleScript integration

Hi!

Querying space ids in macOS is notably hard. It would be handy if this app provided those as a bash script or applescript integration.

I am willing to sponsor this feature.

Cheers - V

add configuration setting

  • choose icon style
  • option to ignore fullscreen apps
  • enable/disable for 1 icon style multi-monitor support
    -- update on click
    -- update on application change

The SpaceId pulldown menu should include the SpaceId name.

A friend saw me using SpaceId and wanted to try it, and asked me for the program name.

My bad memory could not recall the SpaceId name, so I clicked on the SpaceId windows, but only saw the version number (v1.4).

It would be great if it said "SpaceId v1.4" so I would remember the name when somebody asked.

2023 Download not working plz help

The 2023 download for mac is saying the file is unable to be opened due to not being able to verify if it is malicious or not, and that I should contact the developer, because the software needs to be updated! Please help! Thank you!!

ability to show only spaces with windows on them

Same issue as reported here:

It would be convenient to show only spaces that have windows assigned to them, instead of showing all spaces, even when they are completely empty. For example, something like:

[2][4][5]

instead of
[1][2][3][4][5]

(assuming spaces 1 and 3 do not have any windows on them)

Feature Request - Show active monitor

Hi,

currently there is no way to tell which monitor is active.

Screenshot

It would be nice, especially when using yabai as a window manager, to see which monitor is currently active. Maybe like this, when 3 is active:

Is it even possible?

Ill check if i can make a Pull Request for this if i have more time on my hands.

Account for display arrangement in number ordering

When using the "Icon Per Space" mode, I was wondering whether it would be possible to order the spaces taking into consideration the current display arrangement, for example I have my main screen on the right with my second monitor on the left and the spaces are numbered like this:

[1*] 2 3 [4]

Square brackets indicate visible spaces and the starred space is the active space

However if they were named/ordered like they are on macOS then it should look like:

[4][1*] 2 3

Thanks for sharing this great project! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Feature Request - Switch space on icon click

Could you make it so that if you click on one of the greyed out inactive space indicators that it switches to that space? You could keep the ability to right click on the bar to access Preferences/Options.

Maybe it's already supposed to do this and it's just not working for me on Mojave.

Feature Request: Adding Space titles?

The linux equivalent of spaces that I use has a nice feature of being able to name a space. I will name the spaces after issue numbers, etc, allowing me to easily jump between tasks.

It does not seem Apple is doing any work on this.

Would it be possible in the SpaceID pulldown to add a menu option to change spaces, that allows a name to be associated with the space number?

Perfectly for my would be a CLI that would allow me to create a new space with a command like this:

$ SpaceId create-space "issue 123 - fix computation"

and in the SpaceId pulldown, see these in the menu

Preferences
Options
1
2 - issue 123 - fix computation
3 - website design
4 - games
5 - issue 456 - fix another bug

And if you're making a CLI, having a

$ SpaceId delete-space 3

would be completely perfect.

Separate display on each screen?

I'm willing to believe that macOS just doesn't allow it, but would it be possible to have different icons shown on each monitor? So that instead of icon-per-monitor showing "3 11 16" on all displays I saw "3" in the first display's toolbar, "11" in the second, and "16" in the third?
