The ownCloud Podcasts app consolidates podcast episodes of all your feeds and shows them within the ownCloud web interface. Double-clicking a cover starts playback in a separate window so you can continue working in ownCloud while listening to your favorite episode. It also keeps track of your playback position you so can continue anytime right where you left off.

Installing

owncloud-podcasts is available from the ownCloud app store, just enable experimental apps. You can find it in the multimedia category.

Installing from GitHub

Clone the current master branch and run make. Copy the resulting podcasts.tar.gz into your apps/ directory and extract it. You will need to have PHP >= 5.4, curl and scss, coffeescript, npm, node and bower installed. Creating the tarball is known to fail on OS X & BSD due to the different tar syntax - so be sure you are on a linux machine or edit the Makefile to match your needs.

Running tests

After Installing PHPUnit run:

phpunit -c phpunit.xml

List-view sorting

The thumbnail view can be nice, but there is also a lot of space wasted for someone who wants to find a show and get right to it. Additionally, having a toggleable played/unplayed indicator would be nice.

Per-podcast RSS feed

I would love to be able to download Podcasts to my Owncloud installation and then serve them from that box.

Ability to download podcasts

To prevent downloading a podcast anytime you continue hearing, it would be good to be able to download them (at least until finished -> played = 1).

It would be good to have a progress bar right within the cover art indicating the current playback position.

Add support for aggregated RSS

It would be nice for this plugin to be able to create a combined RSS feed for all podcast. That way users can listen to the various podcast from gPodder, Amarok or whatever else their preference may be. This could also be used for a community of podcasters to present themselves collectively to listeners.

Taking this idea a bit further an API for adding feeds from within an application would also be nice but that would mean said app needing to login etcetera which would probably be far beyond the scope of this project.

Support for Nextcloud 11

Currently unable to use this on the newly released Nextcloud 11 as it gives me the following error before it is enabled:

This app has no minimum Nextcloud version assigned. This will cause an error in the future.

Once I click on the Enable button, I get the following:

Error: this app cannot be enabled because it makes the server unstable
