ebucore's Introduction

ebucore

ebucore maintenance

The EBUCore specification provides a common set of metadata for describing radio & TV media assets.

EBUCore is widely adopted and requires regular maintenance to address new requirements requested by implementers.

Github is used to collaboratively edit the next publishable version of EBUCore. The latest approved version of the specification is always published here: https://tech.ebu.ch/docs/tech/tech3293.pdf with links to the server from where the corresponding schemas can be downloaded.

EBUCore also exists as an ontology https://www.ebu.ch/metadata/ontologies/ebucore/ebucore (documentation) and https://www.ebu.ch/metadata/ontologies/ebucore/ebucore.rdf (rdf/xml ontology). The ontology will also be moved to github with a new simpler approach for the documentation.

Before doing anything, please read the editing guidelines in CONTRIBUTING.md.

ebucore's Issues

JSON Schema (or similar) definition

I apologize if this isn't the right place for this question, please redirect me if so.

The current version of the spec mentions JSON, and mediainfo produces JSON output natively with its EBUCore_JSON output. However, I can't find any definition of this format. XSD does not map 1:1 to JSON Schema. Is the JSON format formalized? If so, can it be published in some format alongside the XSD?

I could try to maintain a handcrafted schema, but that doesn't fill me with confidence, and I don't know where/how I could get a library of test files to validate against other than by running mediainfo against a bunch of files, and that seems like a fragile approach anyway. I'd prefer to get the single source of truth from the horse's mouth.

If this resource already exists and I've just missed it, please let me know!
