Should consider the case of 'null'

var mongoose = require('./lib/mongoose'),
    Schema = mongoose.Schema;

var schema = new Schema({
    test_obj :{
        name : String
    }
});

var Test = mongoose.model('Test', schema);
var test = new Test({ test_obj : {name :'fdfdsf'} });

test.merge({ test_obj : {} });

console.log(test);      //{ _id: 54853b44a439d1ab3e5d6c4d, test_obj: { name: 'fdfdsf' } }   name is not changed

option to delete missing props in source object

Some times I want that missing properties in the source object should be merged to the target object as well (by deleting these properties on the target).

It would be handful to have an option that we could force this behavior.

Clarity on merging of arrays

Is it assumed merging an object like

{
a: []
}

into

{
a: ['item1']
}

Will not make a = an empty array? Can we specify in the docs how arrays and possibly deep nested arrays work?
