Is this something I should download and put in the patch folder? I'm new at this, so I don't really know how to do things.

You need to download the source code for Wii Swiss Booter, make the applicable changes, compile it, and use it.

Is it black screen and no sound, or you can still press B to choose 60Hz mode?

Maybe you can run SMS another way? From the GC mode if you have a RVL-001 and a game and memcard to use a save exploit?
