Thermocouple lead length.

I am trying to not reinvent the wheel. I built a kiln controller in the 1980's on a Radio Shack Color Computer. I bought near identical parts to what you have last week, and now have found you on the web.

I apologize if I repeat what you already know.

Somewhere you said that your thermocouple junction was hot because of a short thermocouple . Rather than using two amplifier modules you would be getter off with a longer thermocouple a junction block and some Type K lead wire. The lead wire is easy to get at 1$ per foot. I recently purchased some for a Thai friend.

The lead wire although not identical to Type K thermocouples but is thermoelectrically identical. You connect the wires with a junction block which holds both junctions (for both lead wires) at the same temp eliminating one source of errors. Type K Thermocouples are also easy to buy in long lengths, you can replace one for another.
