endeavouros-iso's Issues

Konsole theme gone after offline install (Plasma)

Description: after the offline installation, all theming in the default offline environment (KDE Plasma) persists, except for that beautiful Konsole theme.

Can you fix this? I wonder what is the cause for that. I had to dig around to find the Konsole theme.

`ipconfig not found`

hi,
i just tried to add Endeavouros_Cassini_Nova-03-2023_R1.iso to my https://github.com/beta-tester/RPi-PXE-Server project.
but every time i try to PXE boot my PC into EndeavourOS i get the error message:

/init: line ...: ipconfig: not found
ERROR: failed to configure Network
...

on the root prompt i tried to fix the problem manually but indeed ipconfig seems not installed on the ISO during PXE boot.

here the PXE boot options i used:

Crash installtion when create Volume Group

Hi,
I want to do the installation when partitioning the hard disk, create a partition with type lvm-pv and click on create Volume Group and check this lvm-pv partition, crashed installation process.

black screen when having a second monitor

Hi, sometimes when i run the system the second screen just gets black and nothing is clickable except with the Icons-only TaskManager, every time this happens i switch primary screens and things go ok.

I hope you resolve this, it's minor but sometimes annoying.

KDE (Dolphin) video thumbnails don't work on default install

A very small issue, perhaps something that could be addressed in your next release.

Issue: After installing EndeavourOS_Galileo-Neo-2024.01.25 with KDE selected as the DE, video preview thumbnails do not work because extra/ffmpegthumbs is not installed by default. They start working after installing ffmpegthumbs with pacman.

Suggested fix: If the user selects KDE during install, install ffmpegthumbs by default.

I hope this is the right place to raise this issue. Thanks for the fantastic distro!

Implement auto detection of CPU

It's me again. And again, compliments for the cool installer.

Another suggestion. When I'm on an Intel CPU and come with an old Intel GPU, then I would not autoselect those features:

  • amd-ucode
  • xf86-video-amdgpu

And so on. How about implementing auto detection and auto selection? In my case, xf86-video-intel is missing.

Thoughts?

Are the EndeavourOS applications required?

Hello all,

Thanks for the neat installer, well done.

I wonder what the EndeavourOS applications are for? In the installer, they come without a description. But all the other features have a description.

I'm after an absolute minimal installation and wonder if things would break without these? First time I installed without them, I saw errors in the logs, so I tried a second time with them and then it worked.

A bit confusing, misleading. Would be good to explain.

Thanks heaps :)

Fail to start the "Linux Boot manager"

Currently the BIOS doesn´t start the "Linux Boot manager" automatically.

My current workaround is to chosse the "Linux Boot manager" via F11 in the UEFI manually.

Using live USB no mirrors found

HI,

I have looped around for a few hours. No idea Why mirrors lists are all broken. i tried updated before install no mirors found. connected to wifi and eth, ping test passed firefox browser working and surfing but have formatted my drive 20 times trying to install with same error about mirrorlist any ideas?

KDE Edition Still Broken on Install

I had this same issue when I tried to install just kde edition 3 months ago, all icons are missing and the right click menu spans the entire screen, as well as animations are broken. I was able to fix it by installing cinnamon, and kde without eos-plasma-settings and eos-sddm-settings. When I had this issue 3 months ago I fixed it by installing Qtile edition and installing plasma myself. Sadly I don't have any screenshots as they got deleted when I reinstalled my system, but I've had people in the discord recreate it.

missing files?

please add a comment to /etc/skel/.bashrc

could you please add a comment to explain this line of /etc/skel/.bashrc?

[[ "$(whoami)" = "root" ]] && return

i usually link /root/.bashrc to /home/me/.bashrc and i'm just curious about that.

thanks!

Hey there endeavour os team , greetings
i am an endeavour os user for the past 5 years and i would like contribute to it heres what i can do:

**Kernel development**: i can make a amazing kernel for the OS having zen and lts support on top of that i can also make it a bit of a hardened **Graphics designing**: although you have hired a gfx designer recently you can always use me as a backup i am always there to do stuff.

Lexer nm610 ssd wont be detected[only endavour artemis_22_6]

[this issue seems to be only with endavour os, tried arch, artix , pop os , debian so far] I have 2 ssds in my pc, i tried to install endavour os artemis on my system, but it wont pick up my lexar ssd no matter what, swapped the ssd position, it wont detect that, all other distros do detect and work fine with it, the bug seems to be with the lattest endavour os iso, previous ones do detect and work normally with the ssd, it is probably lexar nm610, please fix the bug

r8188eu driver very slow (not urgent)

Sorry for the offence, but this also slows down or prevents the installation very much. Kernel 5.15 / 5.16 + TP-Link TL-WN722N v2/v3 [Realtek RTL8188EUS] is very slow and buggy. It drops from 40 Mbps to 1-2 Mbps. https://linux-hardware.org/?probe=d484e899ef

5.10 / 5.13 (Manjaro live iso test) kernel is fine.

Support for grub loopback missing

EndeavourOS does not use grub as ISO bootloader. Instead, syslinux and systemd-boot are used.
Grub is becoming more and more popular on ISO images, replacing sysylinux. I think it is worth adding a configuration to allow booting from the image via grub loopback.
This will allow you to run the EndeavourOS ISO image directly from a flash drive or hard drive. No need to burn the ISO to disk, just copy to disk as file and boot from it.
Here a sample grub configuration file for EndeavourOS: https://gist.github.com/Mexit/e6f923f1ff2bfbf835196963cf8873ba

Optimus Nvidia Systems are Broken due to Missing Kernel Parameter

Yesterday I had to reinstall my system 6 times, and this is one issue that was persistent that i didnt realize till the 6th install. The required kernel parameter "nvidia_drm.modeset=1" Without this, my display would cause a lot of animation glitches on kde and make games either crash on load or run at 60hz despite my display reading 144hz. I've never had this issue before, maybe it got changed when nvidia-inst got messed up a few weeks ago?

Some Remarks
On my monitor, there is a big difference. The text is thicker and smoother. Better font rendering would reduce eye strain for users and make reading text in eos easier for people with vision impairments such as myself (although mine is not permanent, it is a problem of focus on vision). I don't think the difference at least on my monitor be excused for a different GTK theme.
