ptcgbuilder's Issues

Promo cards #157 and up are missing

This is annoying. Without this information, cards like Evil Ball Yveltal EX (a card that actually sees competitive play) are considered out of Standard.

A fix for this would likely be to use Bulbapedia to get the info and art, but the problem with that is that most of the art on Bulbapedia is either low res or Japanese.

Another fix is to bundle pokemon by reprint (so XY 79 and Promo XY08 would be the same as Promo #XY150, the current reprint). The problem with this is I still need to know the reprint.

A final fix that's more obnoxious for the user is to use the PTCGO card cache. This is an issue for multiple reasons:

  1. It's 2GB. I want this application to be lightweight
  2. PTCGO could be anywhere on the computer, and I don't want to have to handle spoofing a download of it because of problem 1.
  3. There's no guarantee that the cache is in a usable state, and if it isn't, it would require either loads of dev time figuring it out, or a conversion to a database format, in which case problem 1 rears its ugly head.

Even Serebii isn't up to date (they only have up to #XY156). Plus, their scans are on separate pages (and I don't want to put massive load on them), and are low quality.

Until Pokemon.com updates, a nice happy solution will unlikely be able to be found.
