The double tap to remove an item is a bit confusing, and I believe unnecessary. I should be able to distinguish between a tap and a swipe well enough that no one would accidentally remove categories when trying to scroll.
Only make the randomize button clickable when there is at least one category selected.
The selected categories box needs a scroll indicator similar to the one on the category list section.
"?" Selector boxes should be limited to one topic icon.
I was thinking it could be really cool to have a "Forging" animation when the user clicks "Randomize."
Maybe like a hammer on an anvil while the randomization script runs?
We also have the ability to make use of the device vibration. If we could time it right and vibrate when the hammer hits the anvil, It would be awesome.
@TimKellyTheMighty Thoughts? It would probably be v.2 or 3.
@TimKellyTheMighty We can do this in CSS. Let me make sure it works on all devices.
Users will need to remove their selected categories from the "?" Box. Since we no longer remove the selected items from the categories section, it is no longer practical to drag and drop them back there to remove. Perhaps a small "X" will suffice.
Currently, the system only supports a static .png splash screen. @TimKellyTheMighty, I wouldn't spend time on this just yet. It is possible to do animation, I'll just have to put some changes in place and I'm not sure how long that will take. I'll set it as a v.2 thing unless you find it more important.
Here is a list of static images that I believe will be needed.
I would suggest that we export all of these splash screens at 2x the screen size (3x for some, see the iPhone link above). The large size will keep the text crisp on high resolution screens.
Also note that the logo should not be included on the splash screens. It will be placed separately.
A user with an account should be given the option to save their custom lists to be used later. We need to determine how to show their lists in the categories bar. Do we let them choose an icon to represent their list? Or only use a title?
In both the category list and randomizer, it is unclear that there are more items that are not visible. We need to indicate that the user is only seeing part of the options.
When adding a category, there is no indication that an action has been taken except the addition of the icon in the randomized box. After 3 items, there is no visible notification of an item being added.
Perhaps we should do some kind of animation on the category list to indicate an item is added to the randomized.
This page will contain the Instagram feed for whatever hashtag we choose to use.
Add programming to allow for a user-generated list. We need to decide what the best method of input would be. Should we have them put a comma, separated list into one big text box? Or each item goes into its own text box?
Perhaps there is a way we could do both and have the user decide how they want to input their lists.
This page will have a grid list of all categories. Clicking on a category will open a modal to list all of the items in the list.
Should be searchable
We should have a way to ensure that the randomizer does not pick the same result twice in a row for the same category.
When a category is moved to the "?" Box, it should not be removed from the categories section. This way, a user may select three of the same category.
I will add a tour to teach the user how to use the app the first time they open it. http://bootstraptour.com/
I think it would be easiest for both of us if we created an icon font from your vector graphics. I've used http://fontastic.me/ and it's pretty good. Easy to use and FREE!
Allow for users to create, log in, and edit their account.
For some reason, our custom splash screens aren't showing. I'll have to look into it.
We need to determine what we will do for tablet sized screens. It should be fairly simple to detect the screen size on page load and show 6 columns of icons on larger screens. That would make it look much more native on the iPad.
