It would be helpful if the currently edited container would be highlighted somehow, i.e. with a different background colour.
Hi there,
first of all thanks for your add-ons, they are really pushing up that productivity!
One thing I wish for a while now, is to have a convenient addon managing text snippets for web-fonts, like I use in Development-IDEs (or in VIM under linux).
What's that?
I have a lot of BBCode snippets I use very frequently, that could profit from macro-ing and snippeting.
One can do that with EDIT just now, but I can see two crucial additional features:
E.g. have a BBCode snippet [b]"Say something!"[/b] with the name "Talking" and the auto-complete tag \talk.
What I would imagine, is that if I write \talk in my form, it will be auto-replaced with the stored snippet.
Also, if I have EDIT sidebar open, I will see a custom snippet called "Talking" that allows the input of the snippet (just as it is now).
See where I am going with this?
Think it worthwhile and doable?
Thanks for considering
Greetings
Meins
It seems that Copy Plain Text is limited to copy characters or lines - no more than approximately 15,000 characters.
Hi,
I like Copy PlainText thanks for that.
However sometimes I first "Copy" before releasing that I'd rather have "Copy PlainText". Then I have to copy again the selection, this time using the "Copy PlainText" entry.
What about allowing user to "Paste PlainText" ? That way, user would only have one copy option, and then the possibility to either "Paste" or "Paste PlainText" (which means no need to copy again if the 1st time I forgot to choose the "Copy PlainText" entry)
Summary :
At present time : 2 entries for copying ("Copy" and "Copy PlainText") and 1 for pasting ("Paste")
Suggestion for the future : 1 entry for copying ("Copy") and 2 for pasting ("Paste" and "Paste PlainText")
Thanks !
Hey. Good extension idea!
I just installed it on Firefox on Windows 10 and noticed an apparent bug: although the default divider is
[newline] ----------------------------------------[newline][newline]
Upon copying a bunch of text blocks from the same page, I get the the result with only the dashes as the separator, so the different blocks I'd copied are dumped on same lines. So basically, newlines within the divider seem to be ignored. I tried to change each [newline] to a double one ([newline][newline]), which made no difference.
On another note, there should probably really be features for clearing the current saved text (should probably ask for a confirmation for that one, by default) and viewing it (without modifying the clipboard) in a modifiable text field dialog (where you can edit and save if you want). Viewing/editing having an optional hotkey would be useful too.
The copy functions don't put anything in the clipboard. I see the helper tab briefly appear after performing a copy action, but when I go to paste FoxyTab hasn't inserted anything into the clipboard.
I'm using FoxyTab 2.11 with Firefox 60.2.0esr (64-bit) on CentOS 7.
I'm usind Windows 10, Firefox 64.0.
Can't turn off Proxy All option. Clicking on it and nothing happens.
On another desktop with the same OS it was the same, but then this bug disappeared.
Hello erosman,
I appreciate this extension and can use it for manually data entry into the Find and Replace values, but when I perform a Copy/Paste procedure for longer strings, clicking off of the extension to get the Paste value, I lose my Find value reverting both the last Find and Replace values from a previous session. So to reiterate the steps:
I'm not certain if this is a feature request, but if you could fix it so the extension stays open until I click the icon button to close it, that may be the easy fix. Either that or have the fields retain values when one clicks off the extension.
Thanks!
Dan
I am using this extension for adding formatted text to an issue tracker in HTML format. Great extension.
Every time I close and open my browser, the format selection under Tags
goes back to BBCode
. It would be great if the extension remembered the last used format and re-established it automatically.
This would be great. Easier access, and sometimes I forget all the great options Foxytab has because I'm not reminded by just right clicking the context menu :)
When clicking on "create desktop shortcut" can the saving dialogue automatically be set to the desktop/desktop folder (or whatever you wish to cal it)? Mine opens in my documents folder.
Cheers
DrT

First, thank you for a nice, very useful addon.
RE: open new blank tab to immediate right of current viewed/opened tab
One issue with FF is that a new tab opens the tab at the end of current tabs. I'm a heavy tab user and this is annoying, and inconvient, because if I open a new tab I want it to open to the immediate right of the tab that I have open/am viewing.
Tab Mix Plus had this feature and it was quite handy and very convenient...
Thank you for considering this feature...

add an option so
also would like to remove multiple lines when more than 2, but not when is less
With this menu item you will allowed to reload all images without refreshing a page, if a page failed to load images for an accidental reason.
I added a script, then could not delete it. Unless I misunderstand the purpose of that "Trash can" button.
Hi, I've just started using this add-on, and it's working very nicely for the tags it implements.
I wanted to add the <pre>
tag as a custom tag, since it does a better job than <code>
of presenting code etc., but the "Custom" section of the sidebar doesn't appear to have any controls to allow the definition of a new tag.
Auto-delete history per hour, for example to keep only the last x hours. This would be a unique feature I've never seen. Elsewhere it's always days.
As the subject says, the resulting PDF is incomplete. It looks like it is divided into multiple pages, but only the first "part/page" has content.
In background.js
line 494, a code string is constructed via:
`confirm(\`${chrome.i18n.getMessage('textConfirmCloseLeft', rem.length)}\`)`;
If javascript content is set into textConfirmCloseLeft
with a closing backtick, it'll allow arbitrary code execution in the context of content/helper.html
- which (I think) has 'read and write all data' permissins.
Hi,
Would you consider an option to enlarge the tab count font, or perhaps instead the tab count could replace the button icon?
Windows 10, Fx 63.09b
I'd like the abuilty to define custom formats for how the page info is copied.
For example with keywords like this:
${title}
${url}
${newline}
${tab} //This would insert a tab character, not to be confused with a Firefox tab
${ip}
${tabnumber}
${date}
${time}
Then users could define themselves what info they want to copy and in what format. I personally like this format:
[${title} ${ip}]${newline}${url}
Which would copy the tab info like this:
[Google 123.123.123.123]
https://www.google.com/
I just want to use shortcuts without using context menu items. Thanks!
My first use of the extension, after reading this release note:
Option to Check & Edit Saved Data
โ I wondered where to find the interface.
Eventually via about:addons I found moz-extension://406337c4-1019-4e50-a002-a532f8d2ead5/content/options.html but the Saved data field was blank.
My first assumption was a bug in in the interface (always blank) but after a while, I realised that the field is populated only if I refrain from copying.
So with the current design, it seems that the wording of this context menu option is misleading:
Copy Saved to Clipboard
โ misleading because it does more than copy, it deletes what was saved.
Maybe change the wording:
Move saved texts to clipboard
hi there,
First I would like to extend my gratitude for your effort by making this add-on.
Secondly, I was looking at the features and I was impressed, they are very very good, but it lacks one more to be complete. if possible to add a new feature called (Faviconize Tabs) which basically shorten The width of the specified tab becomes small up to the size of favicon.
the feature is already exist in GitHup but not updated since 2 years ago.
if you need more info please refer to the below links:

Looking forward for your replay.
Best Regards,
This will make some operations works with background images, for example, Open Image in New Tab.
es, zh_CN and zh_TW locales is missing.
An option like this for all custom settings would be very helpful.
I used an extension for years that allowed several options on copying the marked (selected) text and the URL. That extension is no longer compatible and is not being updated.
I used (in your style):
{marked text}
{url}
And possibly optionally add tab title to that combo.
Can you add this to FoxyTab or another, or just make an extension for this.
Whatever is entered in the Custom Reload scroller, is interpreted as being in seconds, not minutes. Luckily, I was able to manually type in 1140
to have a 19-minute reload interval.
i had been using tree style tab and this extension worked great, but i just changed t vertical tabs reloaded and it doesn't show in the tab context menu anymore. i'm sad and want to cry myself to sleep without foxytab, please fix asap!
I would love to organize the tabs into categories like it is now, but across all Firefox windows, so all tabs no matter the window are listed in that side bars category tab. If there is an option for this and I missed it I apologize( please tell me where to find it :) ).
i'm really surprised that there doesn't seem to be any simple extension for replacing html in the entirety of AMO and so i'd like to ask if you might be willing to create one (or know someone that might) since you have developed a couple of add-ons that come close (Edit and Replace)
i'm simply wanting to replace and/or modify html elements - for example, replace <img data-pagespeed-lazy-src="this"
with <img src="this"
the ability to use regular expressions would be great as would the ability to replace stuff automatically for a given URL every time it's loaded
i realize this can be done with user-scripts, but that is more complex than i would like, plus one would have to know JS
seems to me a lot of people might find such an add-on very handy and i'd be willing to help with documentation
This script gives the error: https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/6325-pinterest-without-registration.
Doesn't like something about this line
// @include https://*.pinterest.*/*
but I don't understand what's wrong with it.
Violentmonkey does not complain. Didn't test with other *monkeys as I'm not using them.
Firefox 65.0.1 (64-bit) on Linux Debian Testing.
before i installed your foxytab, all my tabs would go idle and unload after a period of time except for my google/twitter/etc tabs that actively reload automatically and provide a notification dot on the tab when there are new messages. i like it that way because having the bulk of my tabs unloaded lightens the load on my system on the many tabs that may sit a while before i need them again, and yet i don't miss out on my messages.
i noticed on the options of your add-on that the tab reload interval does not go below 6 or higher than 30, and the default is 10, which would suggest that foxytab will not let tabs naturally unload and stay unloaded. is that correct? how can i ensure the loading states of my tabs remain the same as before foxytab? thanks.
Hello again,
When I try to Find and Replace values inside a UI window I receive the error: Find Pattern not found
This UI window doesn't open like a browser window pop-up, but opens within the webpage, probably using javascript. Below is the link of a button I click to open this modal window to edit a form in my online application:
<a id="F1_HYPERLINK_0" tabindex="9" class="btn btn-primary pull-right" rel="tooltip" onclick="OpenNewWindow('dynamiceditmodal.aspx?FormKey=4796e217-c4bf-4df9-bb00-4e2a54bbfa1a&key=a33045f3-3231-4547-9c5a-780a12c61c55');bConfirmNavAway=0;" href="javascript:void(0)" style="" data-original-title="edit template">Edit</a>
Below is an image of the view source with the behavior of this window as I click on the button to open it. It appears that every time I click that button while I'm on the page a div is added to the bottom of the web page just before the body tag. You can see the last one highlighted and as I click/close/click it just keeps adding ("ui-id-7", seventh click).
If this helps, the web browser's Find (Ctrl+F) will scan and recognize this area. Any idea if there is a way for the extension to recognize this area too?
I understand you offer this for free, but most of the work I do that may require this Replace tool would operate in these windows, so any help is appreciated.
Thank you,
Dan
My system clock is in UTC, but I am not in that time zone. Every other application on my system understands the difference. But when I click on the FoxyTab icon it shows my location as London.
The Historia extension's Options screen has a "Save" button, but there's nothing to indicate that edits have been made which need saving, or that they were saved successfully. It would be helpful if fields containing modified, unsaved data were highlighted, and the highlight was removed once the data was saved.
Additionally, if some changes are made and then the user (i.e. me) forgets to hit "Save" before closing the page or navigating away, the unsaved changes are lost. There's no confirmation popup to indicate that navigation will result in the loss of unsaved data. Can beforeUnload
be used here to prompt before closing (only if unsaved changes have been made)?
Subsequent to the following comment by circcc:
so, I set "privacy.userContext.enabled" to false manually, but it is useless. when I restart firefox, it is still there.
first, set "privacy.userContext.enabled" to false(default). then you can't see container tab menu in main context menu and tab context menu. but after install foxy tab, you can see these context menu.
Setting it to false disables containers in Firefox. As FoxyTab 2.12 has container support, Firefox adds "privacy.userContext.extension" to the about:config which enables containers and disregards previous "privacy.userContext.enabled" and sets it to true.
Note: On Nightly the default "privacy.userContext.enabled" is true.
There should be an adjustable time to set how long the notifications should be visible (default seems to be 20 seconds).
i wanted to separate each sentence into its own line. how could i accomplish this with your addon?
for example: "in the house there were it was. In modern times"
in the find I have [a-z]. [A-Z] but how do i insert a line break/carriage return at the space marker so it looks like this?
in the house there were it was.
In modern times"
