factbook's Issues

Gem has debug statements everywhere

This is a nice gem EXCEPT, that there are so many debug type statements everywhere, that it is hard to use this for any kind of meaningful way.

Either there should be a top level attribute to turn all of them on or off. Or print all debug type statements to stderr.

This way it would be very useful.

Thanks.

GitHub Actions workflows fails due to ruby version being unsupported by nokogiri

Hi @geraldb,

New year, new issues. Looks like the ruby version needs to be upgraded to keep the workflow running.

The following errors has been reported in yesterday's run of the GitHub Actions workflow.

Building native extensions. This could take a while...
ERROR: Error installing nokogiri:
The last version of nokogiri (>= 0) to support your Ruby & RubyGems was 1.13.10. Try installing it with `gem install nokogiri -v 1.13.10`
nokogiri requires Ruby version >= 2.7, < 3.3.dev. The current ruby version is 2.6.10.210.
Successfully installed racc-1.6.2
Error: Process completed with exit code 1.

Hope you might have the time to look into that.

Cheers, Prost ๐Ÿป

GitHub Actions workflow is inactive

Hi @geraldb,
the GitHub Actions workflow of this repo is inactive:

I'd be very grateful if you could make a little commit to re-activate the workflow.

Hope your doing well.

CIA factbook coordinates point to real people's houses (in the Netherlands) - Replace 52 30 N, 5 45 E with 52 24 N, 5 43 E

As shown in this press article , CIA factbook geographic coordinates can accidentally point to actual homes, leading to problems when people do imprecise location lookups on websites using CIA factbook data in their GIS.

It would be helpful if data read from CIA factbook can be overridden by a default value, only for those few cases where this may be an issue. Geographical coordinates would better point to a nearby river, lake, or that country's parliament building, for example.

Either that, or convincing the CIA to change their factbook. I think doing it here is probably easier :) I am unfortunately not familiar with Ruby so can't contribute a pull request...

GitHub Actions workflow fails (HTTP 404) on downloading ek.json - Add A Retry?

Hi @geraldb

as the title of this issue reads. The update GitHub Actions workflow fails on ek.json

==> [55/260] ek Equatorial Guinea / Africa -- Countries:
  sleep 0.5 sec(s)...
GET https://www.cia.gov/the-world-factbook/geos/ek.json...
Error: Process completed with exit code 1.

The url https://www.cia.gov/the-world-factbook/geos/ek.json throws the error code 404.

I'll add further insights on this in the comments below.

Regards, Jean-Luc
