burl's Issues

other ports and using CRLF as line terminator

Hi.
Nice little script.
I improved your script to support ports other than 80. Additionally you should use CRLF as Line-Terminator due to a security-fix in apache2.
Unfortunately i can only access github via browser i cannot send a pull request (did not work from here, seemingly) so i can only send the lines via Issue:

burl() {
shopt -s extquote

export LC_ALL=C
unset headers_read

host=${1%%/*}
path=${1#*/}

port=${host#*:}
host=${host%%:*}

[[ $path == $host ]] && path=""
[[ $port == $host ]] && port="80"

exec 3<>/dev/tcp/${host}/${port}

printf "GET /${path} HTTP/1.1\r\nHost: ${host}\r\nUser-Agent: bURL/Bash ${BASH_VERSION}\r\n\r\n" >&3

Error handling around exec

I too love your script, reduced the loading on my RasPi 256k from 100% down to 1%.

I have an infrequent issue around " exec 3<>/dev/tcp/${host}/${port} " in that an error occurs shown by:

/usr/bin/burl: line 20: api.thingspeak.com: Name or service not known
/usr/bin/burl: line 20: /dev/tcp/api.thingspeak.com/80: Invalid argument

I admit that I don't yet grasp how you do this magic and so I can't see how to add some error handling after the exec.

I respect your statements on this being a toy project but you may have time to share your thoughts on my issue - I hope so.
