Warning, running kexec with --noefi param, strange things will happen!!

Hi there!
There was was a fully working system : 7.1 42661 (3615xs) with 0.3-alpha4 loader. Config : GIGABYTE H410M S2 V3 + Celeron G5905, 8Gb DDR4 Patriot Signature Line., 4 HDD
After reassembling the system in another case - now i have this yellow-colored error : Warning, running kexec with --noefi param, strange things will happen!!
Making new loader 0.3-alpha8 not solving this error.
Has anyone encountered a similar problem?

arpl.vmdk isn't working in esxi

arpl.vmdk cant boot sata 0:0

so i tried ide master
successfully boot!

but cant install vmdk

grub not using predictable ifnames for network interfaces

Loader sais that eth0 is not found, probably because the network interface has a different name.. could be fixed using net.ifnames and biosdevnames in grub.

Ability to connect more than 2 sata drives to dva1622

Good afternoon! In one of the threads of the Xpenology forum, I saw that more than 2 sata hdds can be connected on dva1622 assemblies. Is it possible to do this with the arpl loader? If possible, what needs to be done? Rebuild the build again?

How downgrade 7.1.1 42921 to 7.1 42661

Good afternoon! I have arpl bootloader version 0.3a7, everything worked well. I inadvertently upgraded DSM on DVA1622 from version 7.1 42661 to version 7.1.1 42921. Now the DSM won't boot (configuration and bootloader assembly is loading, where I can build the bootloader for DSM version 7.1 42661). I tried to rebuild the bootloader, but it does not help. How can I downgrade? Thank you!

UPD: I tried to create the bootloader again and reboot. The DSM web interface became available and prompted me to reinstall the system. Hello, thank you very much for this project, I never succes to install DSM with other loader.
I would like to know if it is possible to fix static adress ip for dsm?

i fix it in DSM option (192.168.1.187), but I had to restart VM under proxmox and now I have 2 address:
192.168.1.187 and new one given by dhcp 192.168.1.185 and both with the same Mac address

Second mac address was not applying

DSM: DS3622xs
ARPL: 0.3a7
Seems like something is wrong with applying the mac addresses to the network adapters.
command line contains :netif_num=2 mac1=00.... mac2=00.... , but when DSM was loaded, the only first mac is applied, second mac unchanged.

Result:

No space left on device

Test results in Proxmox.

Hyper-v support?

As a user using Windows Server 2022 for hypervising os, it would be good if arpl supports hyper-v's network driver.
None of the existing dsm7 loaders support hyper-v (extension has been uploaded to pocopico's rp-ext repository, but it is incomplete).
If hyper-v is supported by arpl for the first time, it may be another superior advantage of arpl.

HP Microserver Gen8 compatibility

with ARPL 04.a2 I can't install DSM due to HDD formating error.
I attached a complete dev log of the building prozess and the first reboot after loader creation untill the DSM HDD format error is prompted in the web panel.
After a lot of tests I found that if I use the same Crucial HDD with a allready installed working DSM on it (TinyCoryLoader), I can install DSM with arpl and do not end up in a install loop and the loader works fine....
The formating error depends not on the used NIC! Thats the reason why I added the log with the intel NIC.

Additional I added the log tcrp.log of the same building and boot process of tinycore loader. Maybe you see a relevant difference

ARPL ver 0.2-alpha3 USB image

When building I receive two errors:
The first is "open /mnt/p1/user-config.yml: not a directory" (I also get this error if I try to manually edit the user config file)
The second is "zImage not patched" (which I assume is due to the first error) when I try building the loader.

I've tried 4 different USB drives of different brands and all larger than 4GB.
I've also used Etcher and RUFUS to make the USB with no difference.

The crazy thing is that the first time I tried the tool, it worked and I was able to setup my NAS, but after 2 or 3 reboots the DSM loader failed and kept dropping me back to the initial build scenario. The successful build was model DS3622xs+.
I've tried all of the models and both build numbers (where applicable) with no subsequent luck.

I'm not a very good coder but I'll try and help any way I can to figure this out.
FWIW I'm running an authentic Denverton Supermicro board.

About the need to reinstall the system after manually restarting the system

After installing the system with sata ssd, you can enter it automatically for the first time. I am new to ARPL. I am trying to get SataPortMap and DiskIDxMap setup, but I noticed that you didn't explain how to do this. Just that the cmdline area will help to so this.

If a model is chosen that uses the Device-tree system to define the HDs, there is no need to configure anything. In the case of models that do not use device-tree, the configurations must be done manually and for this there is an option in the "Cmdline" menu to display the SATA controllers, DUMMY ports and ports in use, to assist in the creation of the "SataPortMap", "DiskIdxMap" and "sata_remap" if necessary.

Could you reply with some help on how to set this up? Thank you.

Question about whether the hard disk is in the compatibility list of Synology

With the same configuration, I installed the system with a hard disk that is in the Synology compatibility list, and it can be used normally. After installing it with a disk that is not in the compatibility list, it will prompt that DSM is not installed. Is this a setting problem in arpl?

ok, but... I have a problem with my G7 N54L. In this machine i have 12GB to RAM. I make a usb but don´t work. The usb launch the kernel, but no continue. I think that system is crashed.

The same USB i boot in same machine but across proxmox and boot ok. The problem is when use this USB to boot in real machine.

Red-Pill 0.8 works ok and i don´t any problem this. The only problem is red-pill no boot 42951 but ARPL yes.

Virtualbox/VM Wrokstation Issue

The Network Cart for VMXNET3 on ESXi doesn't work.

I tried to install arpl boot on my computer. My network card is vmxnet3 , But the arpl 0.3 boot does not automatically pull the driver of this network card. Actually it works fine in version 0.2 , I hope you can fix it in the next version , Thank you a lot

DSM status is 'not installed' after reboot

As the summary suggests, DSM will install just fine, but as soon as I reboot I am greeted with setup wizard instead of login page. Re-installation never succeeds unless I format the drive completely. That said, it looks like a disposable setup :)

Problem with long installation and boot

Good afternoon, dear friend! I have hardware: Asrock j4205-itx, 4gb ram, wd purple 1 tb, usb 2.0 flash drive 2gb (for bootloader). I downloaded the latest arrpl bootloader from the link https://github.com/fbelavenuto/arpl/releases, it compiled the bootloader for dva1622, generated a serial random one, clicked boot loader. It took a long time (10 minutes) to load (there was an inscription booting), then a picture from synology appeared on the monitor, it also took a long time to load and an inscription appeared to press enter for local installation. I clicked, then an inscription appeared that a local installation was in progress, it would take about 6 minutes, do not turn off the system. So it's been hanging with me for 30 minutes without changes. So everything should take a long time to load? The web interface is available by local ip, it offers to install the system, but I don’t even know, because it seems to be installed locally (judging by the recording from the monitor) or not?

Maybe, of course, it's a slow flash drive, but it doesn't seem to be involved in the process at all (it blinked when loading, but now it doesn't)

UPD: I tried to assemble the bootloader using the method from the first post (tcrp dev at the link https://github.com/pocopico/tinycore-redpill/tree/develop), while changing the flash drive to 64GB usb 3.0 sandisk. atlantic driver support

Hello. Can you please add atlantic driver to modules? I made a pull request to arpl-modules but not sure if it's correct way.

Xpenology system will suddenly completely freeze, after transfer large data.

My Xpenology system is Asrock J3455 itx + 4G ram
(bulit in NIC chip is Realtek RTL8111GR.)

I liked the easy xpenology installation of the arpl loader, so I reinstalled with arpl loader.

I wanted to choose the ds918+ model. Because the 918+ model's cpu chipset is the same.
But I can't select the ds918+, because 918+ models are not displayed
(J3455 CPU's lack of support for FMA instructions???)

Arpl loader's another advantage is that it takes less time to recognize the NAS after starting it.
(arpl loader : 10 -12 min, picopoco/tinycore redpill loader : 15 - 20min)

But, If the network transfer large data (like, 2GB), the the arpl loader system will suddenly completely freeze:
I had to force shutdown by pressing the power button long time.
I didn't have this symptom when I used picopoco/tinycore loader before.

I noticed something different during the installation process.
picopoco/tinycore redpill loader installed nic driver r8169, differently arpl loader's module nic driver r8168.

Please refer to this situation.

I build arpl with two sas controllers.
When configured in a test environment, the build and use itself is very normal.

Disks attached to the sas controller do not seem to be reconciled successfully by sataportmap or diskidxmap.
Is there no way at all because it's dsm's own problem, or is there something I don't know about?

30 questions about adding SATA controller to esxi and each display hard disk interface

Can you expose the assigned IP address to the kernel boot screen?

I can find the IP address assigned by the router with find.synology.com, but
It would be convenient to know the assigned IP address in advance.

Proxmox also informs the console of the assigned IP when logging in.
I know esxi does that too.
It seems that IP exposure on the Booing screen has nothing to do with security issues.

Hello! I'd like to install a baremetal build on an HP Pavilion x360 convertable 14-ba103ur ultrabook with an 8th gen Intel I5 processor, 6 GB RAM, a 128 GB M.2 SSD, and a WD Blue 1 Tb hard drive. As a LAN card, I use a TP-Link UE300 USB 3.0 adapter based on the Realtek 8156 chip. After generating the serial number and assembling the bootloader for DVA1622 version 42661 and loading it, the Synology DVA1622 image comes out, however, nothing happens. The web interface is not available. I tried to look at the LAN IP address of the TP-link UE300 adapter in the router settings, but the router does not see it and does not assign an IP address to it, although the signal reception LED on the adapter blinks and the IP address of the adapter was determined when the bootloader started.
