Can't find parameters in (mobile)Safari

as with tayfunulu's original version there is a problem with setting the password from osx devices
one of the users there supplied a fix which makes it work on these devices too.

Cant parse some characters in the password field

I have noticed that if I include some special characters in the password (Like @ and + ) the connection attempt will be aborted.
This is because only certain characters are replaced on line 215. Is it possible to include more characters?.

We used the solutions provided in the first post here: https://forum.micropython.org/viewtopic.php?t=3076 . Making a ton of replaces could also work but that doesn't look very elegant.

uploaded wifi.dat cannot be parsed

ampy (maybe other clients too) change the line endings from unix to dos.
the 'restrictive' strip("\n") leaves the '\r' in the password causing the subsequent self.wlan_sta.connect to fail.

ssid, password = line.strip("\n").split(";")

changing this to:
ssid, password = line.strip().split(";")
makes this line ending agnostic.

why the automatic disconnect

It causes the isconnected() shortcut in check_connection() to fail each time, so that the wifi_scan is executed on each boot slowing things down.
I have removed the disconnect and found it to work properly when moving between networks.

Auto captive portal page

Any way to auto-display the captive portal page when connected to the wifi manager?
