Preparation to add on sindresorhus/awesome


Issue about prepare the list to submit pull request on https://github.com/sindresorhus/awesome.

As per rules, in addition to make sure comply with some README formatting rules, we also have to wait at least more 29 days to submit.

Before this we could mention in on the https://github.com/sindresorhus/awesome/issues/2242.

Language localization for the generated awesome-list

With the #2 , we already working on having a dedicated build process to generate the README using data files as reference.

The point of this new issue here is working on with language localization. So, parts of the generated content which already are not on data files would become configurable on different files. This applies for example for project title, description, and other parts. At this moment not sure if we will use something simpler (like loading YAML files and use similar process we use now with data files, but make the languages avalible to the mustache template parser, https://mustache.github.io/) or we try some more elaborated framework.

Improved web version of the curated compilations

While this does not exclude some minimal functionality via only GitHub READMEs, this issue is to enable web version to allow more interaction.

We could make it fully static (even as a way to keep very basic functionality with READMEs. However, even abusing the show/hide feature of <details><summary>click me</summary> (... Content here...)</details> the page loads would request either more data or make the build process too complicated.

Some extra features

Interactive table previews

As one of extra improvements over native GitHub READMEs, let's enable users to load tables on demand to pretty print on the screen.

For now we're using mostly the same JavaScript logic the Wikipedia tables use for sorting, but with Bootstrap 5 visuals.

Graphs

No idea now, but things get simpler generate graphs on demand than on build time

Display with map

Similar logic to graphs. However, this is likely to (if relevant at all) only be applicable to data with places, such as preview WHO Collaborating Centers, WOAH Reference Laboratories, Biosecurity Level 4 laboratories (sourced from Wikipedia), and likely some others.

However, one limitation of this is we would need extra cleaning and geocoding (likely at build time, not client side). So not really a priority.

Dedicated README.md build process from data files

The amount of information is likely to get high to a point editing README.md by hand may get complicated.

Let's attempt to script the generation of the file by using as reference CSVs with the information. This could also allow to automate other checks, like if the referenced repositories or external sites are online. Another feature could be we also add weekly checks or something about evolution of repositories per topic on GitHub.
