simplylight's Issues

Inverted Illuminant lights wont craft [fabric]

i crafted inverted illuminant blocks but when i use the recipes, there is no end product. it will not even let me craft them into regular illuminant blocks.

this is on fabric version 0.14.8 for 1.19

Question about lag

Hi there,

Thanks so much for updating the mod to 1.16. It's one of my favorites! I have a random question for you.

Do you think that having lots of your powered blocks (always on) in my world would cause lag?
My doubt comes from what people say about having too much redstone related blocks in your world (because having too many circuits causes lag).

The reason I ask is because I'm in the process of building a big industrial room underground and I want to use your blocks to light up the whole thing. As you might imagine it's going to take a lot of them.

Anyway, I hope my question makes sense. Thanks for your help!

Unability to use

Whenever I try to use the mod it says that it has failed to load correctly. Other mods that I am using dont show any problem. You can see the details in the picture of the problem.

I am using this mod in my server made in aternos. Its software is Forge 1.19. The server doesnt show any issue and looks to be working good but the problem is that if I cant use this mod then I cant play in my server. I play cracked minecraft through T launcher. The version is 1.19 Forge and I can use mods in it and also see which mods I have but when I use this mod, it shows me the screen of which I sent the picture.

simplylight 0.8.7/1.14.4 — illuminant rod placing incorrectly?

Illuminant Rod does not appear to place correctly, unless I am misunderstanding.

The relevant (I think) description says, "Edge lighting strips that morph to fit against walls." I assume that this refers to the illuminant rod; if not, it's not clear to me what it describes. I see no other item that matches the description.

What I expect from this description is that if I place an illuminant rod on a wall block, it will lie along the block, and if I put it into a corner between a wall and ceiling, it will tuck itself into that corner and lie along it.

In practice what is actually happening is that no matter where I place an illuminant rod, it stands directly out from the center of whichever block face it thinks it was placed on.

I COULD be misunderstanding what is supposed to happen here, but it seems to me this is not working as the description suggests is intended.

1.12.2 support

I have a modded minecraft server that me and my friends are trying to build a city with. We recently switched from 1.16.3 to 1.12.2 so that we could gain access to more mods. We downloaded the 1.12.2 version of Simply Light but it caused the server to immediately crash. I can give you a list of the mods, maybe you can figure out which mod is conflicting or what it is that is causing it to crash? I don't much about code, but I know i cant find any other good lighting mod like Simply light that would look good in the server. So if you could help out, id really appreciate it <3

Heres the list of the mods (currently) on the server:

  • Aquaculture
  • Better Animals Plus
  • Chisels and Bits
  • Coroutil and Corosus Weather Mod
  • cosmetic beds
  • Expanded UNUverse Pack
  • UNU Civilian, Military, and Parts packs
  • Furenikus Roads
  • Immersive Vehicles, and Railroading
  • Crayfishs Vehicles and Furniture
  • Trin Civil, Emergency, and Part packs
  • Macaws furniture, roofs, windows and doors
  • Moonspire Metropolitan Motors
  • MTS Official Pack
  • Obfuscate
  • Quick Homes
  • RS Switches and Gauges
  • Trackside Decor
  • Waddles
  • Wayward Craft [removed]
  • Signpost
  • Univeral Mod Core
  • Track API
  • Malice Core and Doors
  • Macro Automotive Industries
  • Melvins Simple Sign Pack
  • Miszko Vehicle Pack
  • Moving Elevators
  • and some other mods that got added more recently.

I'm not going to include the list of mods we recently got since we got them after we gave up trying to get Simply Light to work.

Again, thank you and I hope you can help.

WTF back to forge only?

Describe the bug
it bugs me that 1.19.2 is forge only

where is the fabric version for 1.19.2

minecraft 1.19.2

Hi,

it doesn't work with the popular "Better Minecraft Forge BMC3" mod packs. It's 19.2 ...tried simply light 19.3 and version 18.2.
Any possibility to make it work. There are so little good light mods like yours.

Kasper

[Suggestion] Connected Textures

Hi I was wondering if you could add an option somehow to connect textures when multiple light blocks are placed next to each other. I love your mod and this would make it even more awesome! Thanks for considering and thanks for making this great mod!!! 🥇 :)

Flickering light in inventory

Hi ! Really like the lamp models ! Really cool mod.
I have an issue tho, not a bad one, since it's not that game breaking, but want your though on it !

Describe the bug

So, when in the menu the light is flickering on my character rendering window, don't know how to describes it better, it cause some display issues with items and stuff. Also, I have a magnet mod and it seems to conflict a bit, item having kindof convulsions when coming to me ^^ ( Mod is JAM, "just a magnet" mod. ) As I said, nothing game-breaking, probably not from the mod iself, but for sure it's part from the mod, as it is around those lamps. (the corner top ones to be precise.)

Screenshots

Pictures would not be really clear I'm afraid, clip would be better I think but I have nothing to do it.. I'll try to take sceens still, if I can manage to capture the flickering it's still that.

Crash/Conclusion

No crash, but can the log help ?
I'm on 1.12.2 with the 0.8.7 version of the mod, and Forge 14.23.5.2768.
( I know it's not the latest one, but since I have trouble with it, I'm sticking with the latest recommended one, with which everything is fine and straightforward. And If it's the cause of the problem, and you don't want to look for it besides recommanding to update I understand, glad it's not that bad of a problem ^^ )

Thanks for the lecture ! Good next, good work !

Edit:
Sorry it start to be a big text ^^
I have to say I'm pretty sure it wasn't flickering in my last world, so it can really be a conflict with a newly added mod ! I can provide my mod list but it would not be in chronological order, a screen of my folder maybe, to show what I installed last.

Illuminant Slab rotation

Describe the bug
Illuminant Slab rotation seems somewhat random at placement. There's no air pockets or anything around the block, but the rotation of the block is shifting based on... nothing it seems?

I've tried:

  • Replacing them (Mining them and picking them up, placing them again)
  • A wrench for rotation
  • Mining the blocks around it and placing them again, also replacing the lights and all the variations for those two

Simply Light 1.19.2-1.4.5-build.42

[Suggestion] Dynamic Corner vertical light of some sorts + more light models.

Hope I said this correctly but I was wondering if there could be a light that can connect to the Dynamic Lights top & bottom, sorta like in this image. Or have the top & bottom connect if they were near each other.

The red line is were the light would appear at. Could make some sort of neon-cube if you wanted.

Also... these lights reminds me of the lights from this mod here...
https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/modern-lights

Don't suppose there could be some light models of these in a way? I know you wanted to make it a lightweight mod but figure it wouldn't hurt to ask.

P.S.
I wonder if it's possible for these lights to not give off any light level but instead... 'glow' in the dark. Like the white texture shows as it were in a 15 block level but the blocks around it are in a 0 block light level. Some modded blocks like the Twilight Forest have bits of the textures on blocks glow in the dark but they give no light levels, unsure if that's possible to do that with these lights.

Rolling Stock does not exist on server? (Train Stopping Buffer Issue)

Description of the bug
So as I was adding the mod to my server, it would not allow for me to place the Bumpers (the one's listed as a locomotive) No matter what I did, they would NOT work. I can't add it to the config file like it asks due to it being a java file, so im left with nothing... if anyone can please help, it would be greatly appreciated.

suggestion : extend redstone switching to all lamps

Hello,

Those lamps are already more than I could hope for. Their ability to get waterlogged, the way you coded them to change wether they're hanged on ceiling or walls or put on the ground where a lot of modder just add an item for each position, and most of all that edge conforming lamp is a must have.
But you did code the block lamps to switch on and off with redstone. And i love to be able to swich lamps on and off in a modern house, keeping only the currently occupied rooms lighted. (Of course then one of the mob control mods is needed).
So I would really love for all the lamps to get swichables

anyway, thank you for that great mod

1.16 Question

Hi, I didn't know where else to ask this so forgive me if it's the wrong place! I love the mod and I've used it for a year now. I was just wondering if you have any plans to update it to 1.16? Thanks for all your hard work and creativity! :)

Suggestion

I was wondering if u was planning on adding in more color lights like based off the standard vanilla dyes for the colors

1.16.4 Compat

Hi, I was wondering if Simply Light is compatible with 1.16.4. I've seen other mods that say that their 1.16.3 versions work with 1.16.4 as well. Thanks! Your mod is one of the best out there for modern lights!

lights in a structure do not rotate correctly

Describe the bug
I build a simple structure, add a variety of simplylight lights, save the structure using a structure block, and then load the structure back in the game with a 90 degree rotation. Several of the simplylight lights do not rotate correctly. The panel light which was on the wall is perpendicular to the wall for example. The rod lights and edge lights also have this problem.

Screenshots
I have attached unrotated and rotated screenshots.

Minecraft version 1.20.1, forge 47.1.46
simplylight is the only mod loaded. I also saw this with forge 47.1.3

original strucfture
rotated by 90 degrees

RF Power Support

Would be amazing for survival packs to have RF powered lights. Anyway to make it so in the config if its enabled they only work not via redstone but by being connected to a source of RF with a customizable drain?

Always interested in expanding the amount of content in a pack and I think that would give a lot of dynamic control while keeping it simple to users on the outside.
