This is a thin Flatpak wrapper for Steam using Freedesktop Runtime
Please report tested games so we have better impression what works and what does not.
If you're having issues, first see FAQ on the wiki to see if you're hitting some corner-case that needs manual intervention. If your case isn't listed, file an issue in addition to adding an entry in tested games.

I'm running with no pulseaudio on a pure alsa setup, 64-bit flatpak built with --disable-system-helper.
McOsu plays audio just fine, except I had to manually select the sound device which was nil by default.
Every other game I've tried (Hotline Miami, Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition, World of Goo, Terraria) is just silent.
I inspected the console output for Hotline Miami (https://gist.github.com/Francesco149/69c238cadbc3a701a33c60f019da2526#file-steam-nosound-hotline-miami-log-L104) and saw that it was correctly trying to use alsa but failed with connection refused, but I already know alsa works inside flatpak, as McOsu can play audio just fine.
I thought the issue was that it wasn't picking up my default sound device so I tried allowing it to see ~/.asoundrc and /etc/asound.conf with --filesystem but that didn't help.
I tried disabling all my virtual sound devices so my default sound device was card0, device0 but still no dice.
I realize this is a niche setup I'm on, but flatpak is a great tool to bring software that's tied to complex dependencies and GNU libc such as steam on minimalistic distros such as musl-based ones like void or sabotage where people often use pure alsa and it would be cool to have this fixed.
I can provide logs for more games if you want.
When I press any key on the game's splash screen in order to get into the main menu, the game gives out this message:
The in-game console prompts some SSL certificate error.
The bug may also affect Croteam's other games, such as The Talos Principle and standalone Serious Sam 3.
When trying to launch the game, it complains with
"Missing required OpenGL extensions. Try installing latest graphics drivers"

While most of the games in my collection work reasonably well with the Flathub's Steam, there is one that doesn't even get into the main screen: The Long Dark.
I tried to search for more information about how it would be possible to get more debugging information, but appearently there's nothing we can do here.
Please let me know how can I provide more information
Currently (as far as I know), there is no way for a Flatpak application to get udev access. However, Steam needs this in order for the Steam controller, the Steam Link and VR devices (HTC Vive, Oculus, ...) to work.
No udev access -> no Steam devices.
As far as I'm aware there's no way Steam devices could function through SDL, so it needs udev rules.
Instead of re-homing in the start wrapper, it's probably just as well to do "--persist=." to persist all of the sadbox's home.

I have just tested install to see how it works from flatpak.
Seems to be some issue when I have installed steam from rpm and then install from flatpak, install on 64bit fedora 26:
I had steam installed from rpms.
I added flathub then installed steam from gnome-software
Then run:
flatpak run com.valvesoftware.Steam -v

I just installed the Steam flatpak on a fresh openSUSE Tumbleweed install with GNOME. I ran it, it started updating Steam but then no window was shown and it was doing simingly nothing.

It looks like the sandbox prevents trying to add Steam libraries, such as those on other drives. Can't imagine this one's easy to fix since they seem to use a custom file chooser.
Trying to run CS GO on flatpaked Steam give me a error message of missing GL_EXT_texture_compression_s3tc or GL_EXT_texture_compression_dxt1 + GL_ANGLE_texture_compression_dxt3 + GL_ANGLE_texture_compression_dxt5.

I have been trying to run a few Renpy based games in Steam under Flatpak, but I keep getting an error,
ImportError: /home/gego/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/data/Steam/steamapps/common/[game]/lib/linux-x86_64/lib/python2.7/_ctypes.so: undefined symbol: PyUnicodeUCS4_FromEncodedObject, and I don't know what is wrong.
It is strange, this seems to be a problem with a many games: The Sakura Series[1], The Sunrider Series[2], The (only) World End Economica (that has a Linux release), but not Long Live The Queen (an older game).
But I can start the games from the command line, by cd:ing into the directory and running it manually.
Anyone else have these problems?

I don't get any notifications from either Steam or games. For example:

I suspect there was a recent update to the external Steam application, and it now has a dependency on nss >= 3.26, but the freedesktop 1.6 runtime has nss 3.25.

I confirmed that copying libnss3.so from a 3.26 build of nss into /var/lib/flatpak/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/x86_64/stable/active/files/lib fixed the problem.
I'm on Antergos, and I know BL2 has an issue on Antergos with openal, but this doesn't seem related to the Flatpak crash as they happen in different spots.
BL2 starts in Flatpak, goes through the splash screens, and once it gets to the main screen when you click to continue it goes to "Searching for Downloadable Content" and then when it gets to "Downloading Updates" it crashes the game.
I restarted Steam Flatpak in Offline mode, then when I started BL2 it ran fine, albeit not online and it didn't look for updates.
I'm not able to find a log to the BL2 crash to find out what it's crashing on. However, I do know that Fedora had SSL cert issues with BL2, not certain something like that would cause a crash.
Is there a way to strace this or get you more information?

If the package libtxc-dxtn isn't installed the textures isn't loaded correctly and most objects becomes black. You can fix this by installing the missing package. If you're using Ubuntu, Linux Mint or any other Ubuntu based linux distribution you can install the package by typing this into the terminal:
sudo apt-get install libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0 libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0:i386
I have the same issue on Fedora 26 and Intel GPU, and the package is called just libtxc_dxtn here. Installing it in the host system doesn't work with flatpak-ed Steam, but bundling with flatpak will probably do the thing.

After a kernel and driver update steam no longer runs on fedora. It did run without hickup.
Now when I start the updating steam windows pop up and succeed but then Steam fails to load with the following message:

I installed steam flatpak from flathub (via GNOME software) but it does not work after installing.

Better create it in the first place in $XDG_DATA_HOME -> wich should be, if not set $HOME/.local/share
As the indicator icon is a broken image, however the context menu still opens and works normally.
After i installed steam i realised that my games where running dreadfully slow so i checked the system information on steam and it said that i was using a VMware, Inc. Gallium 0.4 gpu instead of my gtx960.
Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong and how to fix this?

Well I don't have issues with the fact that everything including steam itself is using Intel graphics, while session itself is on Wayland and the games themselves run on nVidia graphics. Its just that it is really confusing why this is happening on an optimus laptop. I am using Fedora 26 beta with nvidia proprietary drivers installed and logged in with Wayland session (currently only works with intel driver). The nvidia-modeset is disabled, also fedora uses libglvnd. Considering all these factors I am not certain why it uses nvidia graphics inside container.
When trying to use bumblebee to run a game with primusrun %command% it fails with:
/bin/sh: primusrun: command not found
When i run flatpak steam, the sound of the desktop stop working but i can hear the sound of steam and steam games!!
Its really annoying.

Game works perfectly other than there is no sound at all, and in the games log I see "Error! FMOD System failed to initialize." I think this may be an issue with the Flatpak specifically if not close this.

I don't have that kind of problems when using other flatpak apps. I have tried to reinstall com.valvesoftware.Steam and I have tried to install it with --user flag. But this problem persits.

The very first screen show the developer's name. After that, a video is supposed to play but instead it's just silent black. Pressing escape quits the game instantly.
