Game Engine

We need a game engine to get started. It should have a main loop that handles rendering, physics and game logic. Preferrably an existing engine should be used in accordance to the DRY principle. Phaser seems nice.

Basic Terrain Generation

Since we want the game to be based around scenarios played out on procedural maps, we need terrain generation. We could start out with something simple as just generating a circle of land in a vast ocean and go on from there. Biomes, foilage and other more advanced terrain features can wait for now.

Entities

We need a way to represent different actors in our game. These entities need to contain location data and be organized in a way that is practical for both rendering and collision detection. I'm guessing a quadtree will suffice.

Sprite Renderer

We obviously need a renderer for the game. We've agreed that a simple sprite based renderer will do fine. It can start out only drawing static sprites, with support for animations added later. This might, if we're lucky, already be a part of the game engine we choose.
