Some countries are not being updated

Every time I check this list, and mostly my country's developer contribution list (Madagascar), I've noticed that nothing changed for some months now.

Counting contributions

This is just an observation; I don't know if it can be solved...

Even GitHub does not count contributions correctly (but it does better than the stats here).

For example, at this moment GitHub says for me '220 contributions in the last year'. I had much more than that, but GitHub lost their count the moment I changed the commit e-mail (I was wrongly using a company e-mail that had nothing to do with my open-source projects).

Instead of counting the commits for the account, GitHub only considers those that have set a particular e-mail address. Those are not statistics for the account, but for the email.

Incorrect matches in Italy

Out of curiosity I checked which developers were from my hometown (Naples), and noticed that the scraper picked some from outside of Italy, like "Naples, Florida". As a side note, some Italian developers write the town they live in in Italian (e.g., Napoli, rather than Naples) and so are not taken into account, although I realize this is harder to take into account for scraping purposes (it would be impossible to do the same for all languages out there!).

This repo seems very cool, good idea 👍 ! However, I've noticed that in the list of countries you miss the Most Serene Republic of San Marino, a sovreign microstate located as an enclave of the italian region of Emilia Romagna. Here is more about the country:

rephrase total_contributions, public_contribution and followers docs

In a line of each country, it says: There are x users in xCountry. You need at least 0 followers to be on this list.
As far as I noticed you need to have at least 1 contribution for total_contributions, 1 public contribution for public_contribution and 1 follower for followers.
I made a PR for this issue in the actions repository

You could say u dont have public repos, i do have morethan 400 commit on public repo
You could say u need more followers but i check and the guy who is on the last position based on follower has only 1 follower

Have you considered "Top GitHub Users By Stars"?

I've already used this repo multiple times. This is the most up-to-date resource, also the easiest to work with.

I'm wondering if you considered counting stars as this is also an interesting indication.

For anyone that is having problems with this project.

I see that this project is not being maintained; there are no responds to issues, neither to PRs. I have created something similar to this, which you can see here. It is actively being maintained, and for any request you might have, you can open a PR, or I will get it fixed for you. The leaderboards update regularly, and for any errors im quick to respond. If you find my project to be good, please star it!

This isnt me advertising my project; I see that people here are having trouble with this, and in my opinion, it doesnt deserve the attention it gets.

I reside in the state of Georgia, USA. However my name pops up in the country of Georgia list.

increase the frequency of updates

from the commit history of this repo i can infer that only one country is updated each day please increase this

How to check why someone is not in the list?

I thought I should be part of the Austria list?

Having ~600+ contributions and 100+ followers I think I should be somewhere in that top 1000 list (given that it starts with 1 public code contribution)

I thought maybe it's me not having my location set to "Vienna, Austria" before... so I did that and waiter for ~12 hours (it seems to update every hour?)... but I checked just now, and still not in there 🤔

do I need to do something more or just wait more? 🤔

Some countries sometimes don't get updated

Only the timestamps of last updated date and time get updated. The numbers of contributions and of followers don't get updated.

country Aruba missing

I was just looking specifically for insights on country Aruba. However its not included in the analysis. I realize there are probably not a lot of observations for Aruba, but wanted to check nevertheless if there would be any chance of including Aruba as well.

In this list top 4-5 users are includes fake contributions (10k+ commits) in one day and it's impossible. There should exclude fake commits or this list is just for being on top without real benefits to OSS?
