Crop wild relatives collected by Schimper

Feedback to the GBIF helpdesk on occurrences collected by Schimper in Afganistan included in the Global Crop Wild Relative database published in GBIF by the CGIAR International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) and the Global Crop Diversity Trust (dataset is hosted by GBIF Norway) [ipt].

Dr. Christian Bräuchler of the Natural History Museum Vienna reported that:

In the whole dataset, the record is part of, Schimper is indicated as the one who recorded the occurrence and all are from Afghanistan. This cannot be true since nobody of the Schimper family collected in Afghanistan.

A total of 489 occurrences in the dataset are collected by Schimper.

Example: specimen of Daucus carota subsp. maritimus

Institution code = E
Institution code E is reserved in the GBIF Registry/GrSciColl with source reference to Index Herbarium.
A total of 1455 occurrences in the dataset have institution code E.
These occurrence records could preferably be linked to the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh!!

However, the Herbarium dataset published in GBIF from the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburg includes zero occurrences of Daucus collected by Schimper (a total of an overall 69 occurrences collected by Schimper).

Ukrainian datasets to move to the ECA cloud IPT

With the destruction of the UA ipt server, we are in the process of moving Ukrainian data onto the ECA cloud IPT. The dwca backup from January is here: https://static.gbif.no/IPT_Karazin_UA_backup_2022-01-21.zip.

There are 107 files in here, but 111 datasets published on GBIF. The four missing datasets from the backup are:

A planned COST action for marine apex predators - is interested in linking with OBIS and GBIF Nodes in Europe for data publication.
