Convert Images to ascii art

Modified example taken from the example in the excellent book 'Python Playground: Geeky Projects for the Curious Programmer' by Mahesh Venkitachalam https://www.nostarch.com/pythonplayground.

Install

Please use python3.

Install the requirements:

pip install -r requirements.txt

Run

The program looks in the input folder for images to convert and writes to the output folder.

To Run:

python ascii_art.py --width=100

Width has a default value of 80 if not specified.

An optional list of images to download can be provided like so:

python ascii_art.py --w=120 'http://i.imgur.com/48fss41.jpg' 'http://i.imgur.com/6dyNsZH.jpg' 'http://i.imgur.com/cP6B8XA.jpg' 'http://i.imgur.com/8wNH11i.jpg'

The images will be saved into the input folder based on name for later use to avoid re-downloading the image..
