For WiFi dropped connections, a simple script like the following should do nicely (and keep the network connection alive in general...). Maybe run it on a */5 minute schedule?

# ping -c 3 -W 10 192.168.2.1 >/dev/null
#
# if [ $? -ne 0 ]; then
#   service network-manager restart
#   sleep 5
# fi

As seen here. (Obviously, the IP would be a variable, and should be set to your network's router).

This is not needed if you're using wpa_supplicant.conf as outlined in this guide.
