pika-filament-buffer's Issues

STEP files

Hi, I'm having some issues with one of the screens. I don't suppose you have a STEP file of this project, do you?

Curiosity : What other mods do you have on your Bowden Tubes?

I see some unique items for your bowden connections to the ERCF. Can you share?
Also love this buffer system. i think you should incorporate issue #10, the recessed magnet buffer tops.
I'm also considering spinning up the CAD for you. I am a mechanical designer and would love to give back somehow. I just can't promise time frames, busy daddy life, shop life, 40hours too much work life.

Recessed magnet buffer tops

I added a 5mm deep counterbore around the magnet attach points in the buffer tops. This stabilizes the bowden tube in situations where it isn't a straight out attachment. My tubes curve just enough the magnets don't hold them square, this solves that situation. I only did the 10mm magnet-magnet version, but if you want me to CAD up the others, let me know. Probably inbox at discord (silverback_attack) is best because I am not great with github yet.

See attachment.

filament getting under buffer wheel

Any chance of adding a small circle around the buffer wheel with about 1.5 to 2mm height? This would prevent filament from getting under the wheel causing havoc.

buffer-bearing-insert.stl - end snaps off

Hello! This looks amazing - printing the parts now!

I've had the exact same problems as you described - accessing the wheel on the other buffer solutions leads to so much frustration and shouting, my wife wants to yeet the whole thing out the window.

I've got the first buffer set up, but keep having the end of the buffer-bearing-insert.stl snapping off, which means the wheel comes off the axle, leading to all sorts of misery. Is this a common problem / is there a solution? I'm thinking of maybe trying replacing the axle with an M5 screw (with a printed spacer, so the wheel fits snugly around it and a washer to avoid this, but wondered if this is something that you / testers ever came across, and if I'm doing something wrong!

3 slot version?

I would like to see a 3 slot version please, I want to mount 3 spools at each side of my printer, with a buffer. So A 3 slot version would be really helpful!

Comments on beta wheel

I love the new beta wheel. From what I've tested so far it works much better than the original. I found the direction of filament important, going from outside to inside (the lip). I also made a smal guide on mine and a visualization window.
I had made my buffer much larger but now with the new wheel I think I can go back to original size. I'm attaching some photos.
Great work!

Compatibility with endless spool

When endless spool triggers, the leftover filament is pushed back into the pika buffer. However as it isn’t coiled any more it lumps together in a random manner, with the edge of the filament sometimes poking through a neighbouring spool.

This can cause a tangle when the next roll is unloaded and reloaded.

I think a solution to this would be to make the back walls a couple of layers solid. This would stop the filament from intruding the next, neighbouring buffer.
