Hmm. I see some of the stuff we need to still figure out. Users should not provide information that Pilot is going to override or is set by their environment. So file information or the project slug seem like they should not be part of the allowed metadata on upload or update.

Maybe we should add an update
command, that only updates existing metadata records and does some general checking to make sure the fields provided are correct? It would also be nice to have a utility that could update metadata that didn't require access to original files.

I think update
is a good choice. That can accept a subset of the fields in the same structure. So you could add subjects, description, or other attributes without needing access to the files. Anything more than that we should do outside of Pilot using some other administration script.
