the Raven is a good logo, but unfortunately too common in Alaskan websites
The POS tier also needs to be imported into the DB (and user interface)
The tags still do not show up, eventhough we know we entered them. I'll send you some relevant screenshots.
Change the existing links to:
We need a username and password for people to test this. *** and *** are offensive, we may not use them.
For testing, we suggest
username: alaska
password: whitefish
For annotation, we suggest
username: fairbanks
password: denigi
For annotation, we should
tried to delete the (existing) speech act tag "question", and it returned a red box saying that no speech act tag had been found.
Could we exchange the icons (±, triangle thingies, list) to buttons with words on them: “Interlinear”, “Tags”, “Annotate” (same for “…” in linguist interface, which should read “show similar”)
make it work :)
We received a lot of negative feedback on the label "athagram". It needs to be removed completely, this includes the interface, the link, the links from glottotopia to the interface, and everywhere else where it may be lurking. We don't want people not using the tool because they are offended by the label. Replace by AAGD (upper case or lower case, doesn't matter) everywhere it occurs, please.
We remembered that at the Jan 15 meeting, we decided not to include the IU line in the interface. It should be removed.
We wanted everything password protected while under development. The students were able to log on without a password.
see attached. Additional notes:
The only field that will always be filled out and present is the Language field.
If for any field no information is provided in the spreadsheet, then the field should not be included. This will save us form taking up lots of space with no information. (Rationale: We have data pieces where we only have Language and Published in, and we don’t know any of the other information). For example:
Language: Koyukon
Published in: Jetté & Jones (2000:201)
(with bolding as in the attachment, of course)
About dates: We’ll enter them into the spreadsheet in the format you suggested (year-mo-da), but in the database, we’ll need them in the format indicated above. Canada and the US differ in their usage, and to make this accessible, it’s easiest to write out the month and use four-digit years. That’s just the clearest way to do it. If you prefer, we’ll put it into the spreadsheet like that, then you don’t have to convert it.
We were thinking that it would be much easier to find (grammatical) gloss tags if we separated grammatical from lexical glosses. Right now, it is still marginally doable, but once we have more data on there, it'll be a complete pain because of the sheer number of potential lexical glosses. Additionally, it is unlikely that someone would search for "sleep" but very likely that the person would look for "OPT" or some such.
Is there a way we could use capitalization to automatically separate grammatical from lexical glosses, taking the ELAN files as input? Or something else? Typecraft of course does this automatically, but the output of Typecraft in general is not as nice (lack of hyphens in particular). It'd be nice if we could keep using ELAN.
Currently, arbitrary values can be given to ontology features, e.g. person:crocodile. This should be checked against the schema
Maybe a pointer that one needs to manually reload the page before a change is visible would be helpful.
The start page still says "Athagram". Change this to AADG (Alaskan Athabascan Grammar Database". And everywhere else where Athagram shows up...
We need to be able to search for members of templatic paradigms:
*.CNJ
*.SBJ
*.OBJ
*.PSSOR
*.CLF
Right now we can only search for CNJ or GH, not GH.CNJ.
All of it...
If one selects a tag or searches using the search function, it kicks you out of the annotator interface.
When one wants to reset the string search, one needs to first click on "reset" and then on "submit query", otherwise it won't reset.
Alaaskan Athabascan Grammar Database instead of Athagram
….and Olga's image, to replace the raven
We need to have this in place tomorrow so we can make the screenshot for Saturday
The glosses in the LT and Koy examples now in the database are not the revised ones - I thought they were when I looked earlier, but now they are not.
