docs's Introduction

Terminator Manual (GTK3)

Fully fleshed-out manual for Terminator.

The main Terminator icon was created by Cory Kontros, and provided under the CC-BY-SA-4.0 licence.

This Manual and included images are wholly new pieces created by the current maintainer Steve Boddy, and are distributed under the CC-BY-SA-4.0 licence, as are the horrific attempts by yours truly at using Cory’s icon to provide page identities.

Customizing Window & Terminal Titles using PROMPT_COMMAND: Examples

I'd like to share a few tips that aren't covered in the documentation.
@mattrose, perhaps you could consider adding an entry to the documentation for this.

By modifying the PROMPT_COMMAND variable in your .bashrc, you can customize both the window and terminal titles.

Include the following variable definitions in your .bashrc file, and activate the desired one:

# pwd only
PROMPT_COMMAND='echo -en "\033]0; $("pwd") \a"'

## Regular
PROMPT_COMMAND='echo -en "\033]0; [ $("logname")㉿$("hostname") ] :: [ $("pwd") ] \a"'

## Fancy
PROMPT_COMMAND='echo -en "\033]0; 【 $("logname")㉿$("hostname") 】 :: 【 $("pwd") 】 \a"'

## ZEN (Clean Window Title & Title Bar)
PROMPT_COMMAND='echo -en "\033]0; \a"'

Explore various variations that appeal to you.

Why exists 2 domains about documentation for Terminator?

Hello

Doing a research in the web I found these two documentation pages for Terminator:

It seems the official is the former (according with this GitHub project), so why exists the latter?

Furthermore the https://gnome-terminator.org page does not have a link to reach the documentation page - already reported at: gnome-terminator/gnome-terminator.github.io#33

Thanks for your understanding

Remotinator Info and Man page are Missing

I recently 'discovedred' the remotinator command while looking for a something else. I love the idea However there seem to be no man pages or info entried for Ubuntu/Debian.

  • man terminator --> teminator

    $ man remotinator
    No manual entry for remotinator
    $ info remotinator-----Info: (dir)Top, 328 lines
    --17%------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Menu item: an remotinator No manual entry for remotinator

  • the innovative ideas implemented in remotinator need to with the users

Layout tab : custom command not saved

In Layout tab:

  • add a new layout from existing window with different terminals
  • or edit one
  • add a custom command for a terminal
  • click save
  • then the command disappears
    any idea why?
