The Backup Bag

In any old bag — a duffel or re-usable shopping bag — pack the following:

• First aid kit
• Wet wipes
• Tampons
• Water bottle
• Water sanitation tablets
• N95 masks
• Emergency food (dry beans or canned goods)
• Camp stove
• Camp pot (or large tin can)
• Tarp
• Space blankets
• Multitool w/ knife
• Matches and fire starter
• Flashlight + batteries
• Can opener
• Parachute cord
• Superglue
• Duct tape
• Copies of important docs (birth certificate, passport, emergency contacts)
• Maps and compass
• Pen & notebook
• Rain jacket or poncho
• Warm clothes
• Old tennis shoes

In a box or bag, stash these tools. They are the MVP for getting things back up and running:

• Work gloves
• Safety glasses (or old sunglasses)
• Adjustable wrench
• Pliers (needle)
• Snips
• Claw hammer
• Hatchet
• Pocket Ref

The Backup Skills

• Build a Backup Bag
