awesome-geek-podcasts's Issues

OPML Feed

Have an OPML feed of them all so that it's easy to subscribe to them all at once.

Perhaps a narrower focus?

I have actually creating a similar list and was simultaneously excited and disappointed to find yours.

awesome-geek-podcasts is, so far at least, significantly better in almost every way.

The only thing that bothers me a bit is that it seems to be 95% about software and imposes no real restriction on the kinds of podcasts that can be added (except that they are awesome and appeal to geeks?)

Hardcore History, for example, is an amazing podcast, but I feel as though it doesn't really fit (with my vision at least). I can see it becoming a "slippery slope" where pretty much anything can and will be added here. In my opinion this detracts from the list.

Long story short, I'm curious if this projects goals align with mine, or if I should just maintain my project separately and essentially merge in all of your hard work. I am not against shutting mine down in favor of this one and contributing here, but I just want to be on the same page.

Validate pull requests with Travis

Hello, I wrote a tool that can validate README links (valid URLs, not duplicate). It can be run when someone submits a pull request.

Group podcasts by topic.

Hey! I think it would be cool to group podcasts by topic. For example Ruby, Javascript or similar.

use github pages to publish it?

I forked and followed the super simple instructions for github pages to turn the readme into a website with the Dinky theme.

http://colbywhite.github.io/awesome-geek-podcasts/

Just a thought. It'll look marginally cooler.

EDIT: I realized the quick feature github provides to turn a readme into a github page reworked the format of it on a gh-pages branch. I'm going to make it so it's a githubpage, but still in md format so ppl can still quickly add to it, which is the point.

Commentary

A curated list of podcasts we like to listen to.

Why? - Is my first question when looking at the items. I can Google "geek podcasts" and get a similar lists. I want to know why I should bother listen to them. Would be useful if you would add commentary and require new podcast entries to come with it.

It's been very useful to have commentary in awesome-scifi.

add the Myths and Legends podcast

This is a podcast dedicated to telling legendary stories as closely to the originals as possible. It is a little offbeat from the tech side, but esoteric knowledge the of the ancient and medieval stories that played a large role in shaping pop and modern culture, sounds geeky to me. But I also understand that this list of podcasts revolves more around the techie side.

[Note: I am not affiliated with Myths and Legends, just a fan ]

The future of this list?

I just saw the notice that this isn't being actively maintained. But I've found this collection to be super helpful. I even abandoned my own similar project because this one was better.

So... are you looking for new maintainers? Or is there a better list out there? I'd be willing to help keep this up to date and deal with issues and PRs if that's all that's required.

Updated/Outdated flags

Could be interesting add at README.md the current status of each podcast?

Something like:

  • Generic Podcast
  • Random Podcast
