git-routines's Introduction

Source of My Blog and Portfolio

This is not MIT or CC or something else, but you can have a look at it to know, how to create a blog with Staticmatic. I’m blogging about HTML5, Haml, Sass and Ruby on Rails. That’s why I chose Staticmatic to create a Jekyll like static blog. It’s very fast now :)

git-routines's Issues

Trello Plugin

Hey @hagenburger, made some baby steps for a Trello integration - I was the guy talking to you about this last week on the VimBerlin meetup, if you remember this ;)

I was kinda looking for a dual approach here - making this a stand-alone gem, that then also integrates with git-start. Was probably a bad idea though, not sure, we'll see how it goes. Might scrap the stand-alone part altogether, but still keep it as own gem to encapsulate this functionality better.

Will continue working on this whenever there's some time left, you can follow it on https://github.com/LFDM/trello_github, if you're interested. Code is still a bit all over the place, but it will come around.

List also tickets that are already started

I love to click on the start button in a pivotal story. It's faster than opening it and assign it to me. Because of that I would like projects in startet mode listed in the git start command, too.

Switch between branches / tickets that are in-progress

I often switch feature branches (e.g. when I suspend work on a bigger feature to fix an urgent bug).

git-start could offer to switch to other ongoing branches by matching tickets that are "in progress" with local branch names and show the tickets (and description as a refresher) when there's a matching local branch

Could need more readme

Just a few thoughts when I tried it:

  • The initial dialog is very confusing. It does not explain what you are choosing, what is happening and how to change it afterwards
  • I had to use git start several times to get all needed gems installed. Maybe it would be better to collect all needed ones first and output them as a list. Or even better: ask if it should install them for you
  • It is not clear where to find the api tokens. An explanation would be good how to fetch them
  • a cancel option when entering git start to leave the menu would be nice

Get commit message based on current pivotal story

At bitcrowd we construct the commit message based on the pivotal story. And I need to enter that in the time tracking and other stuff, too. Would be awesome if the system could give that to me with a simple command line call. E.g. git commit-message or something like that.
