EE Compliancy for "Metallist" Translation Pack

Hello,

Thanks for your interest in adding a Russian translation pack to the Enhanced Edition's project page. We're excited to offer this pack in the future! I've looked over the Metallist translation pack and have some requested changes:

In regards to my notes below, I will be referencing this document often.

Change the language it overwrites from English to another Latin language

Right now, the language overwrites the English language. We typically encourage people who are making translation packs to not overwrite the English language for two reasons:

  1. English is often a second language for many, so it should remain an option.
  2. The English option does NOT translate the UFO ending cards. All other language options do. As such, you should use a different Latin language so Russian users can see the translated subtitles for the UFO ending cards. To change the language this pack uses: Simply rename all .mes files from *_e.mes to *_X.mes with "X" being either "S" (Spanish), "I" (Italian), "F" (French), or "G" (German).

After you do this, you will need to open option_msg_*.mes and change which language is Russian. For example, if you decide to replace the German language, you will open your option_msg_g.mes file, change "Russian" back to "English", and then change "German" to "Russian", if that makes sense.

After you make these changes, ensure the UFO ending cards are being correctly translated. Also, after you change it to another language being used, open the language.ini file and change the following line accordingly:

SET DX_CONFIG_LANGUAGE # - 2 = French, 3 = German, 4 = Italian, 5 = Spanish.

So if you changed the Russian pack to use German, you'd change this to SET DX_CONFIG_LANGUAGE 3.

Standardize save file colors

On the save screen, there are many colors used for save files. For EE, we have standardized these colors for m_card_x_msg_*.mes. Please reference this file to see how these strings should be re-colored. Note that we've changed colors for white, blue, and red throughout that document.

Save/Load Screen: Character Limitations

These strings have character limitations. A has a limit of 11 characters. B has a limit of 27 characters. Please shorten these strings. If you don't, they will glitch out. You can see this for yourself by going to the SAVE (not LOAD) screen and scrolling through existing save files. As you scroll, these strings will begin to glitch out.

Change save file string name

This save file says "Toilet", however this save file name is shared between the beginning bathroom, BAR Neely's, and the Motorhome. Try it yourself: Do a custom save in the Motorhome and you'll see the save file is called "Toilet." I recommend changing this string to say "Restroom/Motorhome/Bar".

Some text needs to be blue

Anything that's being read from a note should have its text be blue. However, the devs forgot their own rule in a couple of places.

Missing information

The first letter for the combo is also missing. It is present in memo_x_msg_*.mes but not stage_apart_w2f_msg_*.mes. Please correct this. I'd also make sure spacing is correct for this string: #[space]>>[space]#[space]<<[space]#[space]>>[space]#

I recommend playing through the game to ensure there's no other puzzle riddles that have issues such as this!!!

Prepare for upcoming "Master Volume" feature

We will be introducing a Master Volume feature for our next update. As part of this, you will need to add two new lines to your r_menu_*.res file. Please add the following strings to line 28 and 29:

Remove "start00.tex" from package

It's not needed. Only start01.tex will be needed for the package.

Convert font001.tga to font001.png

We've since included PNG support for the font sheet. PNG should be used for two reasons:

  • It's smaller in file size.
  • It should allow people on weaker computers to see/benefit from the HD font. (See here)

заметил небольшую опечатку в версии zog, в дополнительных настройках, в описании настройки "доп. фильтры", пропущена буква "ш" в слове "шейдерные"

Несоответствия в инструкции

Пункт 4 инструкции, указывает о замене файла start01.tex, но в директории также есть файл start00.tex, надо ли его заменять?
Продолжая по тому же пункту нужно заменить файл exe_str.txt в папке *\Silent Hill 2\sh2e\text, но по данной директории нет такого файла и некоторые менюшки в игре остаются на английском.

Архив первоначальных вариантов переводов

Можете прикрепить исходные mes файлы переводов? Проблемы со строчными 'а' и 'р' у имеющихся у меня вариантов находятся в разных местах, скорее это был проблема софта, которым редактировали/конвертировали файлы. У Вас есть какой-то валидатор или переводы вручную проверяются? Прикрепил имеющиеся у меня файлы (оригинальные и после конвертации), в переводе от Ashigaru в файле stage_apart_w2f_msg_e.mes испорчен заголовок (неправильные смещения), у Вас другая версия перевода получается. Может как-то скооперироваться, чтобы не делать одно и тоже?

проблема с буквой "ш"

похоже что в русификаторе от ZoG, во всех словах начинающихся на "ш", первая буква пропущена

а также предупреждение перед началом DLC (где типо "рекомендуется пройти основную кампанию перед началом") съезжает во всех версиях (во всех по разному)

Кривая ширина для малого шрифта

Ширина символом малого шрифта не соответствует замененной кириллицей. Для примера выдранная ширина от исполняемого файла, отредактированного WarMaker:
в fontwdata.bin со смещения 0x00000180 прописать 0907070609070C070A0A09090C0A0A0A070807080A080B0A0D0D090C07080D080606060507050A05070707070907060707050607090608070B0B080A06050A07
Станет веселее, но до идеала далеко.
