browserchoice

Installation

• Download source: git clone https://github.com/hiway/browserchoice.git
• Install development version: pip install --editable .

Configuration

Config file: ~/.browserchoice

browsers:

  urls:

Usage:

• Test from command line: browserchoice http://github.com
• Execute which browserchoice | pbcopy to copy PATH_TO_BINARY into clipboard
• Install LinCastor app
  • Get LinCastor here
  • Click add new scheme
    • title: browserchoice
    • schemes: http,https
    • shell:
      • #!/bin/sh
      • PATH_TO_BINARY $URL
      • exit 0
• Install RCDefaultApp
  • Get RCDefaultApp here
  • Open System Preferences, select Default Apps
  • Select LinCastor app as the default Web Browser Application
• Test if applied system-wide: open http://github.com

browserchoice's Issues

Issues with the config files.

• Currently we are using browserchoice as the key name in default settings but get_browser_for_url and even the README expects it to be 'browsers'.
• The structure of self.setting's dict is incorrect. 'default_browser' should be a top level key and each 'browser' list should be a dict.
• Simply using browser['urls'] is not going to work, it should be browser['browser']['urls'].
