Confirmed, firefox crashed, after reopening it I noticed it updated to 53 and now multifox is completely broken.

It is a sad day ! Think I will have to find a new browser as firefoxs own "multi session" stuff is HORRIBLE !

However there does not seem to be a new browser with an extension as strong as Multifox. Chrome/Vivaldi does not. New Firefox (57+) does not.

I can install Multifox 3.2.3 on Basilisk (which identify itself with Firefox 52.9) without problem, but it does not work with Google login anymore. Seems that Google has changed its backend again (and again and again), and since hultmann has left Multifox, no one commits to this project anymore, and eventually it does not get essential updates. Damn on Mozilla Foundation for break the once great ecosystem!

Have you tried Multi-Account Containers with recent Firefox versions? For me it has satisfied my use cases for Multifox, and then some (for example, it has a feature where you can configure a domain to automatically open in a particular container, which has long been something I wished Multifox had).

Hi @HighCommander4 ,

Thanks a lot for your recommendation.

I have surely tried the Containers function you mentioned, back when it was first announced in early stage. Yes it replaced the function provided by Multifox quite well and neatly, and I believe with later enhancements and peripheral addons, it has evolved into a really good substitute of Multifox.

I cannot use it, however, due to my sticking to XUL-based browsers. I have switched to Pale Moon when Mozilla announced the end of XUL addons and Qucksaver quitted as an developer of the addons. It's a shame that Firefox has become a WE-only world since, and a high possibility that good old functions provided by XUL addons will never be implemented.

Yes the Container is a good example of the efforts Mozilla has tried to keep things going. But there are yet many other items missing. Before I can make sure that all the functions I need and used are provided in Firefox ecosystem again, I will still be reluctant.

Thanks for your recommendation again.

I can't find the link at the moment, but there are a few bugtrackers on moz in regards to the containers issue. The one I was following for a while was to implement container windows so that all tabs in a specific window would be set to a specific container / profile.

Anyway my point here is if more people voice their opinions on these threads Mozilla will eventually have to try and work on it. Hopefully!
