This is a Google Chrome browser extension that enhances the Google+ web app to unlock the potential of its real-time updates and make it much easier to process a large stream of incoming posts and comments.

Features

Notification status visible at all times. You no longer have to scroll the page to the top and you don't have to keep going back to the browser tab with Google+. You will always know when you get new notifications because the browser button is always visible with a badge.
Collapsible comments. Thanks to a side bar always within view, it's quick and easy to hide hundreds of comments from anywhere in the discussion.
Collapsible posts. You can hide and unhide a post without muting it. This is great if you're not really interested in seeing a post and all its comments right now, but you still want to get back to it at a later time. The downside of muting a post is that you will never see it again and you stop getting any notifications of responses to any comments you may have made on that post.
Mark comments as read. Collapsing posts/comments automatically keeps track of the comments you've seen; the extension remembers.
Real-time comment count on collapsed items. Whether you like to collapse comments or posts, you won't miss any incoming comments. The extension shows you the total number of seen or unseen comments, updated live.
List-mode option keeps at most one post displayed. Combined with real-time comments, this turns the stream into a dashboard: in one screenful you can see activity on many posts at once and jump back and forth between multiple active comment streams. This will greatly benefit those who follow popular people who post a lot and/or get a lot of comments.
Mouse-over instant preview. In list mode, hover the mouse over a collapsed post to get a preview of the content at the side. The preview is fully functional.

Known Issues

Does not play well with the 'j' and 'k' keyboard shortcuts, which scroll the page.
Sometimes the comment counts look odd. You can get zero or negative counts for new comments because people delete their comments -- that's normal. But Google+ doesn't give us comments consistently.

Messes up keyboard navigation of posts

If you hit 'j' and 'k', once in a while the marker will jump multiple posts or will stop from going up.

On user page, preview appears too far to right

Comment count bg looks odd for one user

One user's comment count background shows a different part of the CSS sprite, at -394px instead of -274px.
Probably, G+ displays that green arrow for some other purpose, early in the loading process for that user.

On Chrome 64-bit, the CSS somehow gets removed by extension management

When people install/deinstall other extensions, our CSS somehow gets removed.

The solution is to listen to "loading" events and force the re-injection of CSS. Thanks to Florent Fremont for this fix

Auto-click on more posts when hit bottom

"One suggestion: auto pager for google+, no need to click more, just like twitter ^__^"

Preview popups not compatible with fixed topbar

Popup should scroll independently of rest of page

User says: " the pop window appear, but when toggling off the comment, I need to actually scroll down the page to scroll the frame and not the very frame that pops, hope it is not that hard to understand"

Changing collapsed state of posts doesn't automatically scroll page

Normally, G+ automatically scrolls the page to keep the current item within view.
Collapsing/uncollapsing items doesn't trigger this automatic scrolling

Option to display browser icon only on G+ page

User says: "I didn't realize that there was a tool control next to the wrench. Is it possible to have that only show up on G+ sites? (like plus.google.com and other pages that can show you your plus feed)"

Clicking comment count sets as read

User says: "Is there a way to accept the red notification buttons - turning them gray - without clicking the post open in list mode? In list mode you get the number of notifications on the right side of the message line. Moving the mouse over the line opens the popup. When i read all new messages i still have to click-open the post to clear the notification counter."

Snippet is too small

User says: "But the "teaser" part is often (usually?) too small to properly assess what's in the post. So one must click on it to see. I was clicking on everything. How about a two-line teaser? "

I think the solution is just to let the mouse hover and preview the post as in Google, Twitter, and FB Happening Now.

Stored history needs to expire

The history of collapsed items doesn't expire. localStorage needs to be cleaned up after some time

Context menu in popup is shifted too low

user says: "I just noticed that when you click on the upper right arrow in a post while looking at the post in the hover popup, the drop down menu appears at the bottom of the post."

Replace "mobile", "photos" with icon to get better lineup

"In the list view, I'd love to have the "mobile" or "public" represented as an icon followed by the time before the name of the person. this will make the posts align better and the stream look more organized"

User says: "I'd also like the opportunity to disable the plugin (or use different modes) for the different pages. Eg: I might want my sparks using the default G+ method, and my stream using list mode."

When returning to a page, mark new posts

User says: "However I've noticed something that would make it easier to use. Can you add the ability to (when you go back to the page) show what new items are available? Maybe use a green box icon with a capitol N in it so it appears different from the red and grey boxes?"

After checking out notification, counter doesn't go back to zero

Upon version update, the content script should prompt user

User should know to refresh when the extension is updated, in order to get the new CSS and content script

Locks up Plus, possible conflict with Comment Toggle

I have a circle with several thousands peeps in it. When I hit the circle, Plus appears to hang -- but G+ Me is actually processing the page. After a while, the page is available. However, after several minutes, G+ Me hangs Plus.

Also, when I toggle the mode, G+ Me seems to ignore it. Again, I think it's destabilized at this point, and behaving erratically.

Might be a conflict with this other extension I am using: http://goo.gl/spRCO.

Suggest performance optimization of the Stream. test it on some huge Streams; you'll see what I mean.

Limit number of posts per page

User says: "on 'not so powerful pc' have too much posts with for eg. lot of animated gif and a lot of comments can be a problem, so i think if we can have the ability to limit the shown posts to a number lower than 20 (default as you have wrote) can make the difference in terms of speed/usability."

Share buttons on collapsed bar

"Also, how about adding a "share" option to the toolbar -- that way, you could potentially share from any website out there.

Visiting a single post should set comments as read

In long thread, page jumps back to middle of comments

"Was reading a post with many comments, over 400 in fact, and every so often, page would jump back up to middle, and I had to scroll back down to find my place again."

In list mode, first few seconds show posts expanded

In lists mode, after refreshing the page, you could be scrolling down the page as the posts come in, and then the extension catches up and collapses all into list mode.
So there's a delay/flicker.

Collapsing doesn't stop videos

If a youtube video is playing in a post, and you collapse the item, the video will continue playing, sound and all.

Not compatible with screenshot for Feedback

if you click "Feedback", the page shown for taking a screenshot is messed up.

Text search match in hidden part of snippet scrolls the titlebar

If you do a browser search and you happen to hit some text that would normally be hidden and replaced with ..., the titlebar content will be scrolled.

Popup has scroll jitter

User says: "The only thing I notice is that the pop-up has scroll jitter for comment threads that update in real-time - makes it hard to scroll through a busy comment stream"
