waiops-tech-jam's Issues

Turbonomic LAB section 4-2: Clarification on supply chain shown as this point in LAB

In section 3 of the lab user are told to connect to Instana so we can collect metric from Robo Shop:
In section 4, we see a "Supply Chain" which includes the QOTD and Robo-Shop applications, but for some reason the UI does not show the Host machines (3) for the managed-too cluster, just the 6 hosts for the managed from cluster.

Its only after step 5, where users add the Kubernetes Data Target do we see the 3 additional worker nodes.

Maybe this needs to be clarified, users might expect to see the 3 nodes from the managed to cluster.

There should also be an explained why we see the 6 worker nodes from the managed-from cluster, and where this data is coming from, i.e., Turbonomic automatically discover the supply chain for the cluster it is installed on

Instana Lab section 6-6, incorrect description of Website to be monitored

In this section the instructions state
"You will see a list of websites that are being monitored. In this environment, you’ll see the Bee-Travels application website. Click on the blue link for the Bee-Travels website to drill down for more details."

The website we added in in section 4 was Robot Shop and not Bee-Travels as mentioned in the instructions or "Quote of the Day" as shown in the screen shot.

In addition, because Robot Shop is the Website being monitored, in section 6-6 where you look at web traffic, there is none until the user logs onto Robot Shop and makes a transition. So there needs to be instructions telling the user to do that.

TechJam Instana section 2-1 typo and missing text

Under section Instana 2-1, of the lab documentation a typo on the first line, says "backand" should read backend.

Missing text is at the end of the first bullet point, text reads "Of course, on-premise could be deployed into a public cloud, but is not a"
end abruptly, no doubt some text is missing at the end of that sentence

Instana install section 4-3: Install Robot Shop

In section 4-3 of the guide, it says

"Install the Robot Shop by issuing the following helm command. You’ll need to replace with the key value that you obtained in section 3.2 from the Instana user interface and is the reportingURL you obtained in section 4.2."

The EUM Key, as well as the Reporting URL, are provided in the javascript dialog box as shown in section 4.2, there is no need to refer to section 3.2

Turbonomics 5-5: Validate Deployment recommeded better validation

Validating the kubeturbo install is done via looking at the log in OCP and conforming the Target Configuration has been updated.

I suggest also telling the user to navigate to the suppy-chain view and selecting the robo-shop application and seeing the robo-shop application being hosted on a 3 node cluster (this info will be missing unless kubeturbo is installed correctly)
